On the subject of Sunday roast, we still have a Sunday dinner at home, with different meat every week. Yesterday we had chicken, last week we had beef, before that lamb and before that pork – nice and crispy crackling, just as I like it. We always have Yorkshire pudding (well we would have to include that, living in Yorkshire 😀 ) and mashed and roasted potatoes, different veg every week – brocolli, cauliflower, cabbage or peas. No beans because I can’t eat them. Occasionally we have baked fruit with creme fraiche as a dessert, and I just love that! At Christmas we have guinea fowl, at New Year we have pheasant and sometimes we have possins as well.

If we had guests we would do them a full roast with meat and a dessert, and of course some wine, whatever sort would depend on what meat we had. We never drink beer with a roast dinner, or any dinner at all.

General Charles de Gaulle
John F. Kennedy
Napoleon Bonaparte
John Lennon
Steven Spielberg
and…
My grand father (RIP) just for the simple reason that he greatly admired many of the people I have mentioned above and he would love to converse with them at length.

On a slightly different topic: Does anybody still have a sunday roast, nobody seems to follow tradition anymore

As often as I possibly can….

Loin of pork with CRISPY crackling or
Shoulder of Lamb ( its the little layers of fat in this joint which gives it a unique flavour )
Roast pototoes,again,crispy.Fresh potatoes,NOT Iceland stuff.
Runner-beans,the last lot I got came from Kenya. Can`t we grow our own
Propper Gravy, made from the meat juices and thickened.
ALWAYS with a Yorkshire Pudding.
Don`t normally have an “afters” as I`m too stuffed 😀
