Spent a good deal of time practicing my photography yesterday, that included a good hour or so at sunset, OK there still not brilliant but there are no window-frames anymore 🙂

taken from a fire escape from the sixth form.
nope Adam, your second thought was correct.
Lets just say that as the room I worked in was on the top floor, I can honestly say “forget the mayor……I held the highest office in town”

i don’t want to butt in whalebone, but when stewart says Jumbo, i assume he means jumbo water tower in colchester, so i would hazard a guess (i can see me being totally wrong here) that its taken from a fire escape from the sixth form. am i right?

Nope, no clues to the fellow as he should be able to recognise the landmark.

Some of the small digital camers from the lower end of the price range produce some very good results. My wife uses one which cost under 200 quid and produces some brilliant sky scapes and sunset shots. I’ll add one which I too a few years ago on wet film. I really enjoy seeing good sunset pictures.

Not wishing to hi-jack your thread andrewman, these were taken with a very small Fuji Finepix 104 (wow….1.5m/pix) a couple of years ago.
Yeah there are some dropouts in the darker ones but for all the super dooper kit about these days a lot still rests on being ‘in the right place at the right time’, but, what I would have given to have some of todays kit on that evening in November 2003, the whole event only lasted 4-5 minutes, just grab what’s to hand. 😎
Stewart 1a will know the silhoette but, if you (he) can guess which buildings fire escape it was taken from, there is a pint of Spitfire waiting (when he attains a certain age) at the Anchor in Rowhedge 😀

Phil
