The Pound vs. the Dollar…or Euro…or whatever..

So I priced tickets to the UK from Colorado the other day, just out of curiousity, and I have to wonder now if I’ll ever get back over to the UK again the way the price is increasing…in 2000, when a friend and I went over , the tickets on Air Canada were about $635, which was’nt so bad…a year later they had gone up over $800, a little more inconvenient, but still doable….now, in 2005, the tickets I priced, on no particular airline (just the CHEAPEST) would have cost me $1,037!! Granted, the price of fuel has gone through the roof over her (for us, it probably still brings a chuckle to the British National travelling in the US and used to UK gas prices) Granted, to the British, the price of a trip to the States probably seems reasonable because every Pound now garners you $2, a pretty good conversion rate…I don’t even know what that translates to in Euros, which I also know is now stronger than the Dollar…has anyone priced a trip to the US from England lately and what did it cost you? My only options for getting to the UK in the near future is to travel in the ‘off season’, when it’s still cold (I usually time it out to come over during the prime of summer for Legends)

Maybe it’s time to look at some ‘early season’ shows in the UK and changing my travelling schedule for May instead of July…or fly to Ireland and hitchhike to the UK from there (could be fun…)

Right Andy, see, it’s about $1200 for you to get here (of course you are taking two flights during the trip) so it is STILL almost cheaper for you to fly twice than it is for me to fly ONCE over to the UK….

By the way…got any dates for this excursion yet? Gotta check on the availability of the condo for you, so the sooner the better…
