BBC Weather

What do people think of the new BBC weather format? I think its worse than the old one. There are no temperature figures for the East Coast from Scotland to East Anglia and is generally less clear

I had to laugh heartily at one TV viewers comments….

“What’s with this 3D weather? If real weather was in 3D it would make more sense.”

I am not impressed with it at all, Dodgy Brown colour with wet patches does not do it for me sadly.
Having said that the weather suits this map as both are wet and dull.

Well I can’t say I watch the weather frequently, but I watched it tonight for the first time, and it’s so much worse! What was wrong with the old one that needed changing? All I can see now is rain and puddles everywhere(no sun). (not neccessarily because it’s raining everywhere! 😉 )

Worse than the old one and whilst we’re on the subject of weather I saw in the paper a couple of weeks back that, having spent 27.5 million quid on a new supercomputer, the Met Office says they can tell us it’s going to rain but they can’t say when. They are back to where they were 15 years ago. I think the main problem is that they replace the computer system but forget to tell the computer that the UK sits under the junction of 5 different weather systems.

would prefer if they concentrated on telling us what the weather is going to be rather than telling what we have had. All the technology has not really helped in terms of accuracy either – a forecast for 5 days is about as much use as a chocolate teapot.
No point in planning anything for a weekend until the Friday as the forecast changes so much in the week

And-since when did our country turn brown? Whats all that about?

Good point! 😀 why not just make it green again??!?!?!?!?!?!?

When i first saw it it looked awful i thought but now i’m generally starting to like it because you can actually see where certain weather area’s are going to be….eg cloudy area’s are darker and you can also see where the rainy weather is heading. Not some rough estimation with a cloud over an entire city like on the old map you can see that it might just past south of you!

Agreed though it doesn’t seem to cover all of the UK very well and with the old maps you could just glance and have a good idea what the weather would be like but now you have to wait for you area of the country to be shown and where are the Isobars, windspeed’s etc. I like it but just make it green, show some more info and cities and i’ll be even more pleased.

Its dreadful.
Its bad enough trying to make out central Scotland-I can imagine what folks up in Orkney or Shetland think about it.

A little bird tells me it’s a beta version. Stay tuned for improved coverage.
