The first visit back to Zaventem since the bankrupty of SABENA. So after all those years it became high time to go back there. I went mainly to see the Jet Airways A330s and Brussels Airlines A330s. Jet Airways has a mini hub at Brussels with 6 (six!) daily flights linking Brussels to India and North America.
Unfortuantely I was too late for them. They all arrive between 7:00 and 8:00. Due to roadworks I was too late to see their arrivals. At departure they where too far away to get pictures.
I went spotting next to the detention center for immigrants. Parked the car at the train station of Nossegem and walked the rest, just a short stroll.
Due to resurfacing runway 02/20 is closed all week. Therefor the planes had to land, with a small crosswind, on 25L (primary) and 25R (back-up). Take-offs where all from 25R.
On the way back I made a quick stop at Luik-Bierset. This is the base for TNT Express. The traffic is quite interesting with lots of TNT Express and sub-charters for TNT. There was even a Atlantic Airlines L-188. Unfortunately the possibility of photos is quite hard. You’d need a long ladder at least, though having a cherry-picker might come in handy as well. The fences are tall and there are two of them, standing about 3 metres from each other. A good part of the airport even has a wall, restricting views further.
