The same day still the 25th of July and kicking of with some backlight shots. First time I tried these kind of light conditions and size so take it easy on me!
Kenya Airways, Boeing 777-200 landing runway 27R. Note the two sun reflections on the engines.
American Airlines, Boeing 777-200 landing runway 27R. Got to love that livery, on this moment above the parkinglot count the cars.
British Airways, Boeing 757-200 for runway 27R, note the vortexen leaving flap edge.
Virgin Atlantic, Boeing 747-400 finals runway 27R.
Same a/c.

Air Canada, Boeing 767-300. Also with a fortex from the right wing.
SriLankan Airlines, Airbus A340-300.
Swiss, Airbus A340-300.
Again an American Airlines, Boeing 777-200 with some cool reflections.

American Airlines, Boeing 777-200 in normal conditions.
Virgin Atlantic, Airbus A340-600.
Turkish airlines, Boeing 777-300. You can clearly see the bended wingtip.

United Airlines, Boeing 777-200, one of the darkest paints that comes to LHR.
Air Canada, Airbus A330-300.

Already the nose is washed out quite a bit in your edit.
I didn’t touch the exposure, but that’s very easily sorted with gentle use of the Burn tool.
I find the best way of correcting white balance on JPEGs is to use the Colour Balance tool (which I think most editing software has). The trick is to shift Yellow/Blue equally in the opposite direction to Cyan/Red, so if your image is a little warm and you go to -6 on Cyan/Red, then go to +6 on Yellow/Blue (obviously remembering to do that for mid tones and highlights). The results should look quite natural if you do it by the right amount.

That edit actually looks very cold on my mindblowingly superb screen here but it certainly works as an example! This is a tad closer to how it would look had the white balance been set correctly:
I did mention white balance in a previous thread, though. 😉

Hitherto I used photoshop, but it crashed. Now I got Corel PSP and am still trying to figure out how to get the white balance to work. When I tried the white balance as per the manual I found the plane still to be too yellow. Probably due to the stark white sun reflections. Already the nose is washed out quite a bit in your edit. Your edit is lots better then mine though.
Of course not having a mindblowingly superb screen does not help.

Might I also add that most of your photos have a reddish brown colour cast. This is to be expected with the sunset shots, but your mid-day shots should not have a cast. Assuming your camera has the time set correctly your A380 was shot at 12:20. Compare the difference between your A380 shot and my quick edit. Still not a perfect edit, but you get the idea.

Sorry to be so negatuve but I don’t see the point in being anything other than honest. 🙂

I second that motion, and want to add one more criticism.

uuuuhhhh…. The size is the whole meaning I posted them….
Offcourse I can resize them I always do, but if I want to show you how lardge a Triple 7 or A380 is as far like 10nm I think these dimmensions are more pleasent to watch. With 1024*… it’s offcourse better but this gives just a little more feeling. Like I said before, next time there will be no more big sizes posted just the link to the album.
That’s up to you, Maikel.
They’re your pictures.
ps….. I think most of us already know how large a B777 or an A380 are. 🙂

Hmm… I have to disagree on it being more pleasant because most people can only see a part of the photo. I don’t want to see a part of the photo, I want to see the entire thing so I can appreciate the composition. Another little point as well is that the larger the image, the more the imperfections show up. A couple of these are a little on the soft side, and posting them so big only makes them look even softer.

Ok, sorry for that then. Will post the link to the larger pics next time instead of posting them full size;)
Why not just re-size them before posting like everyone, including me, else does?

These are great pictures, Maikel, but far too big.
It’s OK this time, but please don’t post images this large again!
Thanks

3-4 years old Olympus E-500 with only 8 megapixel. With most of the shots I used my Olympus EZ 70-300mm F/4.0-5.6 ED. Also have a 40-150 and 14-45.

Fantastic shots all round, what camera do you use to get such a detailed shot?

Emirates, Airbus A380 comming in.
Think this is the best picture of the series. I’m very pleased with this one:
US Airways, Boeing 767-200.
Virgin Atlantic, Airbus A340-600 on finals.

Egypt Air, Boeing 777-200.
Singapore Airlines, Boeing 777-300 for runway 27L.
Gulf Air, Airbus A340-300.
Pakistan International Airlines, Boeing 777-200 named ‘Garden of the mughal’.
Virgin Atlantic, Airbus A340-600 in full sun. Note the wing reflection on the fuselage.
Kingfisher Airlines, Airbus A330-200. Also cool colours.
Hope you liked them, reactions are welcome. If you guys think these are TO BIG I will not make them anymore. If you like them maybe I can make some at AMS in the future.
