The rules apparently were “a little grey” by all acounts (and thus open to manipulation as it were) on the news this morning…

There have always been teams, managers, engineers, drivers who would skim as close to breaking the rules as they could, and when it comes down to it 5kgs is quite a substanstial amount to ‘forget’ about. Had they gotten away with it then other teams would be trying to do the same.
Punish the guilty, for they were guilty.
