Question about LHR (expansion)

Today I’ve seen this great shot of LHR from the air:

I’ve noticed some massive lakes to the south of LHR, not that far from T4, T5 and the cargo area. To me those lake scream out “new runway!”. Has anyone every considered filling up the lakes and adding a new runway with perhaps terminal/freight buildings? Cause everytime I hear about a possible new LHR runway, the proposed runway is set to the north of LHR.

it would be good for a new runway if we demolish those houses next to the resevoir aswell

Go tell that to the people who live in them! :D:D:D

I think the problem is that those resevoirs hold quite a bit of the Greater London and beyonds water supply. If you would have to build a new runway, you would have to loose them, and build new ones elsewhere, and i can tell you Peter, water is already scarce in the South East 😉

:EDIT: And not only would you upset those who have to move for the new runway, but you would upset those who’d have to move for the new resevoirs.
Both have and will create plenty of controversy
