Well the airline is headed by former Air Europe founder Giuseppe Gentile! Most staff are ex Air Europe as well.

Air Italy is a new charter airline. It is based at MXP, and plans to use its 757 to serve Egypt, Turkey, Cyprus, Tenerife, Greece, Mombasa, Zanzibar and Nairobi. Potential winter destinations may include Mombasa, Muscat, the Maldives and Dubai.

The airlines management are clearly stating that they are a charter airline, but may one day move into schedued activities. A second 757 is to arrive by the end of this month, although their business plan calls for 767s.

because Alitalia have just months to live and AF have already said that if Alitalias finances were good they’d merge them into the Air France-KLM group immediately because there would be signifiacnt financial gains. this picture could be the foundations of Alitalias successor

Surely IF it was to happen, the European anti monopoly commision or what ever its called wouldnt be to happy about it…3 airlines merged, a bit anti competitive

Why a B757 : AF never operated the 757
Why not take AZ fleet over?
Why a new c/s right now : AZ is still alive?

Why would AF start and Italian airline when they have Alitalia as their buddies in the Skyteam???

From the type faces used for ‘Air Italy’ and the ”It’s nice to fly with friends again’ slogan I would say it has more to do with Air Europe.

Air Europe UK used ‘It’s nice to fly with friends’ as its advertising motto for the whole of it’s existance, and of course owned Air Europe Italy which was sold when the parent company ceased operations in 1991.

The book of Air Europe UK’s history is also called ‘It’s nice to fly with friends.

Look at the picture above, thats is the Air France livary but with italian colours and the name air italy

Anyone know any more info on the airline what conections does it have with AF if any??????

I noticed this a few days ago.

All I can dig up is that its a rip off of the Air France livery. Having said that, its not a bad one either and Italy does have a tricolour flag too, so I think its suitable and quite nice.
