For all intents and purposes, Scot Airways is just a trading name.
They are still basicaly Suckling Air. they even still use the suckling callsign.
I heard a little chatter between EDI tower and Suckling when I was having my trial lesson 😀

They used to fly from GLA, but no longer do. They fly from 2 Scottish cities, used to be 3, their main ops are from Scotland to LCY so I think it makes sense for them to be called Scot Airways, although I’m sure they used to be called Suckling Airways? In the same way you could ask why Air Scotland have the right to be called Air Scotland when they only predominantly fly from one Scottish airport?
The name ‘Scot Airways’ came about after a large cash injection into Suckling Airways by Scots businessman, and Stagecoach bus tycoon Brian Soutar.
Effectively (AFAIK?) the business is still actively chaired by Roy Suckling? As for the GLA route, well it’s been widely reported as recently as last week that they’d like to re-open the Glasgow-London City service.
You’re right to question the validity of a Greek aircraft supplier calling itself Air Scotland though? Especially when it’s own graphic is displayed on the aircraft in as large a font as the business it claims to operate on the behalf of?

Aren’t they flying from GLA at all according to their website they only fly from EDI and Dundee both going to London City and no other destination or am I doing something wrong on the website.
So why be called “SCOTAIRWAYS” when you don’t fly from more Scottish aitports
Cheers

Nope the 757 is 100% going when the 737s come. The extra capacity will be used to make GLA-CDG, GLA-ATH and GLA-AMS all 5 weekly.
That’s not what I’ve read recently, and in any case. I don’t think we can 100% sure of anything with Air Scotland anymore! 😮

Perhaps the 757 is earmarked for their Baghdad flights? I’ll believe it when I see it!

Pretty sure the planned 737s are ADDITIONAL to the 757.

Supposed to ditching the 757 and going for a couple of 737’s plus the aformentioned L10-11’s.

And some more aeroplanes, maybe?

Air Scotland flights delayed until they can get more slots to provide a worthwhile frequency

ooops! Sorry, I am mixing up Scotairways with Air Scotland (757s). 😮
Air Scotland in the past did announce they wanted to fly to AMS but have gone very quiet since.
By: Mark L - 17th May 2005 at 18:38
When did they start flying to AMS? Have not seem them here yet, nor have I seen pictures of them here. Have I missed something? They are saying tehy want to fly four times daily (once daily in the weekend). That seems a lot of capacity for between AMS and SOU. Especially considering their prices are not really cheap when compared with BMI, easyJet or Ryanair.
They have been flying it for years!

With 4 flights every weekday along with weekend flights nothing could be easier for that well deserved short break. Flight prices start at £124.00 return including taxes and charges and can be booked on-line
