Hey,
my brother was at the airport ready for his night flight to Corfu, when he found out there will be a pretty big delay. He was told this is due to a strike over in France. So, the corfu flight earlier today will be late coming in as they have to fly around France. Anyone know anymore?
Cheers

Something else I just spotted on the T1 arrivals:
KA503D-03:30-Hong Kong-Cancelled
KA503D-03:30-Hong Kong- Expected 06:30
Why is this on arrivals? Dragonair operate cargo flights into MAN, and they don’t even come in at that time…what’s going on?

Toulouse bound Volga Dnepr An-124 full of Rolls Royce’s finest at EMA this evening had an extension granted to his original slot time, and then requested another slot time extension only to be told by the tower that because of the strike at the other end unless this further extension was approved he faced a three hour delay until the next available slot! Slot extension was approved and away he went, apparently the guy co-ordinating the slots at this end ‘knew somebody’ at the other end!

slightly off topic…but down at Gatwick last wednesday, and all flights from Rhodes arriving back was subject to a 3hr delay, due to it being a change over day….looks like it is going to be a long summer

Your brothers flight operates on the A320 that operates the slot 1 NAP and the slot 2 MAD, that is why he is delayed. The slot 1 CFU ops on the 752 and suffered nil delay as it is possible to avoid french airspace routing up from Greece. Did your brother not check the delay line?

Wondered why the Jet2 flights were arriving so late into LBA tonight, thats the reason. Also, for some reason, a bmi flight from CDG is operating with a WW flight code. ?
Ryanairs message:
Going to Corfu eh? Lucky buggar! 😀
Lucky? He goes there and comes back. Cabin Crew flight :p

We have been advised of industrial action by French air traffic controllers, from Sunday 15 May until the morning of Tuesday 17 May.
Although we do anticipate delays and disruption to ALL INTERNATIONAL flights, our advice to Jet2.com passengers is to check-in as normal for your scheduled departure times.
We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused to your travel plans by this industrial action, which is totally beyond our control.

Ryanairs message:
Ryanair regrets that French Air Traffic controllers have taken lightning strike action to protest against the French government‘s decision to abolish the May 16th (Ascension Day) public holiday.
Consequently, French trade unions have called this strike action, which is taking place between 1900 hrs Sunday 15th May and 0700 hrs Tuesday 17th May local French time. This strike will cause delays and cancellations to flights operating into, out of and over flying France. Passengers effected by a flight cancellation can be transferred onto the next available flight, at no extra charge by the Airport Ticket Desk staff or by contacting a Ryanair call centre (see contact details below). If you choose not to travel today we will process a full refund of all monies back to the original form of payment used when paying for your reservation.
Ryanair apologises for the inconvenience caused to customers by this last minute strike action called by French Air Traffic Control staff, which is outside of Ryanair’s control.
Going to Corfu eh? Lucky buggar! 😀
