Someone suggested that I should visit Birmingham…. and the Emirates B777-300ER was reason enough to spend a couple of hours dodging the showers. 😀
Enjoy…… 😀

I wouldn’t have thought so, but maybe it was the only B777 available to operate the route?
They have been expanding lately, after all.

They have three at the moment, I think.
Is the distance from Birmingham to Dubai justifyable in having to use the 777-300ER?

I was not aware that EK had the 777-300ER. I thought they only operated the baseline version 773.

The Emirates 777-300ER is certainly aesthetically pleasing to the eye
Boeing in conjunction with BAE Systems are to open a new 777 servicing facility in the west country, to specialise in the long range “ooh aarrr” version of the giant aircraft ! 😀

Yes, I knew that Emirates would be using the B777-300 into GLA but I thought the B777-300ERs were for longer distance routes into Asia and the USA.
We live and learn, eh? 🙂

I don’t think you’ll be seeing B777-300ERs on a regular basis, EK. 🙂
A 772 will be put on the route then a 773ER
EK are upgrading the daily A330 at to a daily 777-300ER. A 772 will be used 1st then upped again to a 773ER. check it on www.emirates.com, www.baa.com/glasgow, the glasgow google groupe, http://www.flightmapping.com/news/26.asp.

From the Scotsman
“Additional capacity will then be added on the long-haul route later that month when a larger Boeing 777-300 is introduced – bringing with it 149 more seats per day than the 278 currently available. “

(A6-EBC is the new aircraft with the EK titles under the fuselage right?)

Absolutely exceptional shots Grey 🙂
And – the 777-300ER is expected into GLA every day from like EK says, October.

Nice pics Grey…
I thought about it, bbut I’m glad I didn’t go…
I don’t like BHX when they’re using 33 – especially not in the afternoon. Far more photo ops for 15 IMHO, if you’re prepared to work a bit for them!
Andy
Agreed, found a lovely one there last weekend, but didnt have enough time to exploit it fully.

That would have been at 11:41, RIP. 🙂
I use a Minolta A200 these days, BHXlocal.
Hmm, so it wouldn’t have been heading to EDI at that time I don’t think, but it was certainly in from and back to BHX later in the afternoon.
