……a final few from Heathrow in the 70’s; if somebody wants to do a bit of research and nail the date, that Seaboard World 747 was the first revenue earning flight out of LHR by a pure 747 freighter (or so I was told).

Priceless images. We used to handle that Biman 707 S2-ABN on its maint visits to STN back in the 80s. Also never noticed before the different title style used on the two Aeroflot IL62s as well as the flag sizes.

I have about 60 or so slides taken from the Queens Building, dating from the mid-70’s period. If anyone is interested I will try to scan and post – but, be warned, the quality can best be described as indifferent (and I’m no good with Photoshop).
I’ve scanned some of the slides mentioned above – a slight degree of editing has taken place, but there’s lots of ‘debris’ on some of the images which I haven’t attempted to remove. There’s also considerable grain in some shots where I was using an early 400 ASA slide film. These were taken using a humble (i.e. cheap) Russian Zenit SLR camera with an inexpensive telephoto.
Enjoy, if you can.

Please post more! I used to visit Heathrow regularly during this time. Even though I was in my 6th year of aviation employment at EGSS it was still a thrill to see the huge variety at LHR compared to our diet of Air UK SD330/360 and F27s! I had forgotten how cool that Libyan Arab livery looked.

Happy days.
I spent many a happy day there with my dad up there on the Queen’s Building. We used to go very regularly.
Oh the days when you could get in the middle and watch the planes go by. Then they started to shrink the space and finally closed it. π
Any more please?
