Just noticed this in my local paper (covers Stansted and the local area).
What it says:
“A budget airline is hoping to open a new route from stansted to what migth be considered the last place on Earth anyone would want to go on holiday.
Air Scotland has applied to the Department for Transport for a special license to send tourists to Iraq, citing ‘massive need’.
The flights from stansted could start as early as November. Proposed destinations include a twice weekly service to the capital Baghdad and a weekly one to Arbil, to the North.
Iraqi-born company chairman Dhia-El-Ani said that before sanctions were imposed in 1991, the route between London and Baghdad was one fo the most used in the world.
He said the route would prove invaluable to the 250,000 British iraqis, eliminating routes via Jordan and Dubai.”
Anyone think much of it?

I have said it before, and I’ll say it again. An airline wallowing around not knowing where it wants to go, what it wants to be or what it wants to do. I’m amazed it’s lasted this long.
1L.

We had a thread about this on here about it starting from Scotland I think, would be a strange move if they started it from STN!
I take it, it would be with a Tristar?
The actual routing they were talking of is GLA-STN-Iraq. Air Scotland’s plans are getting crazier and crazier by the week right now! 😉

We’ve been talking about that locally for a while now. I just can’t see it happen, what the adverts be like ?
“Fly to Iraq in a thirty year old Tristar”. 😮
If Air Scotland are looking for a route that they won’t face competition on then this is the one mind you. 😀
