If you are interested, today saw the 1st Zoom flight from CWL.
There was quite a party there, with jazz bands etc welcoming the 1st pax to Wales, and the 1st pax on the return leg to YYZ. There were quite a few checking in today, and hopefully it will be a succsess for both nations!
Vancouver seems next for Zoom from CWL next year!!

baby certainly havn’t lived up to expectations! the chief of Ryanair has said that he is very keen on Cardiff as a regional airport and see’s Ryanairs oppertunites being there, withon the timescale of 5 years he said and that was last year. Now they’re out Birmingham the nearest big base they have is London? so it would make sense

I’m sure we’ll see a “real” loco make Cardiff a base hopefully in the near future!
Baby arent really pulling their weight there! Might see say Jet2 or TOM have a look i wonder?

The Air Transat service has been gone a while now, but there is serious demand for this new YYZ service both sides of the ocean though: The first outbound flight left CWL at full capacity, and the first inbound flight arrived with 112 Canadians on board, so i imagine there won’t be quite enough capacity when things get into full swing. Zoom have already extended the route into the winter season and it’s certain to be served next year too, as they said they would be “doubling the number of routes served” by introducing Vancouver, so I can’t imagine they ditch YYZ and replace that with something else.
Despite the drop in passenger numbers at the start of this year due to a shortage of aircraft by bmibaby and the decision by MYT to make CWL a summer only base, next year things should really take off, especially in the long haul sector. Zoom will serve Toronto & Vancouver, Thomsonfly will introduce Cancun, Puerta Plata and an extra flight to Orlando in addition to existing three services to Orlando. Thomsonfly will also introduce new European routes for the summer and winter and increase the frequencies of existimng ones, to increase there total capacity at the airport by over 50%, more than 500,000 passengers.

Looking good for CWL then. Is the Air Transat flights still on the go?
I believe it was being sold by Globespan. Doesn’t appear on their schedules anymore, so looks like it may have been dropped.
You would have thought Candian Affair would have stepped in with a TCX special config 757 on the CWL-YYZ route maybe?
