Hi all,
Took a few hours to do some spotting/photography at my local…
I went specifically to see the Emirates Airbus A380, but I will save those pics until last!
So here goes, in no particular order…

I like this next one because I managed to get the Moon in the background:

The battle for stands at T5 hots up…

More to folllow…

Now that I have a 450D, hopefully the quality should improve somewhat.
Will post some more up when I get a chance!
your shots were fine except for one thing, sun was a big issue.
i noticed that alot of your shots the subject was dark because you were shooting towards the sun.
It looks like the camera settings picked up the dark side of the plane and slowed down the shutterspeed.
We have the same problem in sydney, if you are facing west in the afternoon, all you will get is sun and dark aircraft.
i have a 450D as well. you will get some fantastic shots from it, play around with it, it’s a great camera, just watch out where the sun is in relation to where you are taking the shots.
my Fav photo, the EK A380 with the BA tails in the foreground, BLOODY GREAT PIC !

Although they’re a little grainy they’re still enjoyable
Thanks for that Steve, yeah I know quality is not ‘outstanding’…and the location they were shot at is not ideal as I was shooting into the sun!
At the end of the day, I am not too concerned about quality at the moment as I am still learning and improving my skills, but there’s not much point in taking loads of photos and then not share them with others!:)
I love the head on “game on” shots at T5 didnt notice them before
Plus the BMI and Moon shot is awesome
Keep up the good work Jon
Rob
🙂
Thanks Rob, both shots you mentioned where taken at random, so I was quite pleased with the way they turned out, along with the last EK A380 one with the sun in the background.
Now that I have a 450D, hopefully the quality should improve somewhat.
Will post some more up when I get a chance!

Nice A380 pics, Jon. Has been ages since I’ve been to Heathrow, so excuse my ignorance in not knowing where these were taken from. :p. Which runways were in use?
Hi Tom, the first few pics were taken outside the main entrance to a hotel next to LHR, but then I asked the car park attendant, and he said the hotel has a terrace bar/viewing area which is open to the public, so I went and had a look at it and stayed there for a while. It is really only good when aircraft are departing on 27R and arriving on 09L, but the biggest problem is that you are facing the sun at all times which is not so good!
Will be more than happy to show you the next time you are down this way and you can judge for yourself.
Thanks for the comment.:)

Would love a trip there soon but as soon as I finish uni for Christmas on Saturday I’m straight back working for the following weeks. Plus I’m broke as well. Not good. I’ll feel like such a complete beginner again when I finally do go spotting again!

Yeah I have to agree with you B77W.
Bristol_Rob, when are you next coming to LHR? PM me when you know and if I am free, I will arrange to meet up with you.:)

Hey Cloud
A great selection of shots there
I had a blast at LHR for my bday on the 11th of october , we stayed at the Jury Inn which i would give 10/10 for service quality and price and view
A couple of shots i like the most – the head on BA the El Al and the Emirates A380
Nice stuff

The Emirates ones are very nice. The EK A380 all most looks as nice in these pics as it does in person!

…continued

Now the moment you’ve all been waiting for…the Emirates Airbus A380-800:
Before you look at these pics, I must say that the EK002 was suppose to depart at 13:45pm, but it didn’t eventually leave until just after 15:00pm, but even more annoying was the fact that they changed the runways just before it took off, so it ended up departing from the southern runway instead (I was not impressed to say the least!), so that is why the images are not of the best quality!

Zoomed in and cropped from the one above:

Well, I hope you enjoyed them, any comments welcomed.:)
