I’m a bit concerned about something that I’ve been doing for about a week now, and am taking the unusual step of putting feelers out – just in case it rings a bell with anyone, or if you have any useful medical links which I can use.
When I write something (such as a short note), I occassionaly write a completely wrong word instead of the one I intend to write. This ‘wrong’ word I actually write is connected to a train of thought which I am having at the same time (e.g. intend to write ‘catch a train’ but write ‘catch a grass’ instead because in the back of my mind I know I have to cut the grass later). I know it sounds unusual but I’m a bit concerned in case its an indicator of a problem. I am under a reasonable amount of work stress at the mo with exams and stuff. I’ve never experienced this before but have wondered in the past if I am a tiny bit dyslexic. As a footnote, recently I am forgetting more and more what on earth I was going to do (e.g: go to garage to get something) That’s just old age, maybe!
Expecting a bit of rib-tickling in your replies, but does this ring a bell with anyone?
Can only get to the internet now and then so apologies for any late responses.
Cheers, in advance,

It used to be fashionable to blame the aluminium in drinks cans – but I still suffer similar symptoms even though I have long ago gone over to bottles and cartons…

I’ve done similar things myself when I’ve been typing a letter (usually involves typing the same line twice!), or even something as simple as filling in the index card on a blank tape, I doubt its anything serious, probably just a case of being distracted by other thoughts.
The bottom line though is no matter how trivial it might seem, have word with your GP and he’ll no doubt put your mind at rest.

I woudlnt worry about it. I do that all the time, and im 16. So does my brother. Had an AS level exam earlier and when I checked one of my answers I noticed I had written: “Therefore the business should not pay any more royalties to coffee unless they are guaranteed more turnover”. (Note the wrong word being coffee!)
Dont worry about it, but if you are just e-mail one of the internet doctor people, they are helpfull with things like that.
As for the forgetting what you are doing, again I do that quite often. Its just when you are thinking about two things at once I suppose, so dont worry about it.
