Cameras Like Light… Just Wish There Was Some! MAN 15-10-08

Hi All,

Yesterday myself and fellow forum member Tom Morley had a wander to MAN. The light required for a good day of photography was notably absent; I was at ISO 250, +2/3EV and F.7.1 for most of the day but in all honesty, I don’t get as annoyed at the fact we donโ€™t see much sunshine anymore as I used to. Iโ€™d rather shoot in the dull, grey and non-existent light than not at all so I’m kind of learning to live with it. Besides, learning how to deal with what are very much less than ideal conditions really does push you as a photographer, which is never a bad thing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, here are the photos, in no particular order. All captured using a Canon 30D and 70-200L F.4 lens.

All cracking shots, the best one – beside the Cathy lifting spray – is the Air France just getting airbourne

Well Paul you’ve coped admirably in the conditions to produce some very nice photos! I do like the Thomak Cook 75 under tow shot:) Living under the delightful UK weather;) certainly gives us the opportunity to test ourselves, which is always a good thing!

Cheers, Huw:)

We already have Northern_Git, now we have Little_Git as well! Welcome, and thanks, Huw!

Thankyou for your kind words, guys. Threedeltamax, I know exactly what you mean about lower light images. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing like being at LHR and shooting heavies departing into a deep blue and perfectly clear sky, but it can also work well when the light is somewhat less favourable and I think a lot of people either forget that, or don’t give it a chance. As I said earlier, I’d rather learn to shoot in low light than essentially give up a hobby that I really enjoy. Considering we now don’t really have summers anymore, I’m going with the low light option!

Thanks again. ๐Ÿ™‚

Paul

A very good set of shots Mr Nichols!

Any idea how long the BA 767 will be around for?

You may not have had the weather, but at least you’ve got some traffic. NQY airport doesn’t see many movements a day ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I saw OMYA (TCX 320) at Bristol not too long ago – Nice to know some Brizzle with was with you that day

Thanks for sharing – WAC!

The third and largest mound at the AVP is in the process of being flattened (which is something of a sad sight in all honesty) in order for Concorde to be parked there while they build the hangar that will house her. Anyone know if diggers.net exists?

Thanks for a great day, Tom, and thanks for driving. Much appreciated!

Thanks for looking. ๐Ÿ™‚
