Is this photo protection ott

Hi

Since some pondlife has used several of my photos on their site I have decided to put a copyright notice on all my photos.

Here is an example taken tonight but is this ott ?

Hopefully trying out some of the ideas here will make it a bit more secure.

Thanks for the ideas everyone.

I accept that no matter what you do people will nick photos from websites, forums etc however if the photos have a copyright notice on them people will know who did them to start with.

The thing is I posted 3 photos to another forum a while back someone nicked them added them to their site then I got told off by the moderators of them forum my photos were stolen from and when I tried to explain my case i got banned for “being insubordinate to the webmaster and stealing content from a members site”.

My point is that maybe you should put it over an area which has a change of image and contrast – THAT would make it difficult (but still not impossible) to remove and (hopefully) less prone to being stolen. If you go posting images anywhere, though, you run the risk of that image being posted elsewhere.

If you don’t want your photos reproduced everywhere on the internet just dont post them. If you put them in the public domain then expect some gremlins to repost without going to the effort of giving you the credit.

Why not try watermarking your photos?
