Well i was once told (by a pilot) that the “dip” in Newcastle’s runway prevented some direct America routes, and certain types of plane. Not sure how true that is ?

with Luton next on the cards (daily A332)

Ok, now you’re getting me excited! 😀

Where did you hear that from? Think it’s odd that I haven’t heard anything about it yet. Also, wont there be some severe weight restrictions? Luton’s runway is not big and the biggest aircraft we get are A300s and 767s. They might get within limits, but only just!
I see where the market is though. I think I would probably use it if I wanted to fly to Asia or Australia.

Anyone notice that the a/c has not yet got the red and white ‘Emirates’ titles on the underbody?…

I think it only goes on the newest aircraft…

Yep seems a logical choice then, think you might be right, would love to see the 777 at Newcastle. I think they use it at Glasgow (UAE26) so you never know !. Nice to see a few other fellow Geordies on here !!

Great shots from the local. There are one or two of the A330’S that have the red Belly. I know for a fact the first A330 they bought has it.

With Regards to the choice of aircraft.

I think the A330 was the logical choice for the start of the route we had not idea how the route would pan out. All the other Uk airports had the A330 at the start of there routes. Thankfully it has been a huge sucess it has brought loads to the North and proved to the sceptics that NCL could handle a Long Hual Carrier. I cant Believe the route has been running for a year already! Give it another year or 2 and we’ll see the 777 graceing stand 30 at NCL!

You may be right about the red/white underbelly paint actually, we only ever get the A332’s in so i’ve never been able to compare it to the B772ER. Incidentally, do you know why they chose an A332 for Newcastle and why there haven’t been any B772’s in ?, is it to do with weights/passenger load/or simply the dip in the runway ?

Nice shots there.
Read an article today about EK adding more services to the UK with Luton next on the cards (daily A332), MAN getting a third flight (A332) BHX going twice daily B77W and NCL being upgraded to a B772ER with LHR getting A380’s So you may be shooting something a little more tasty in a couple of years.
About the underbelly titles: I thought the underbelly titles were not on any A330’s? can’t recall ever seeing one with it, mostly the 777 and A380 now.

Many thanks for the comment!. Yep it was one of my first shots as a budding-semipro-amateur with my new EOS & wide angle. Quite difficult to fit an A330 in at that height 🙂 !
