Smoking ban in Ireland

Since a couple of days smoking is banned in Ireland in almost all the public places INCLUDING the holly pubs.

The same kind of law does exist in France since May 92 but the regulator didn’t include places such as bars.

I’d like to know if some fella here live in Ireland and how they feel about it?

What’s next? No more drinking in a tabac?

It’s a stupid law anyway. Irish pubs are so impregated with cigarette smoke that a ban won’t help a thing. It will take centuries before those drinking holes are aired enough to make them noticably less dangerous. But by that time we’d be dead anyway.

The stupid thing is, with all those nice schemes and laws to promote everyone’s health and stop ourselves from dying in traffic and such… i’m going to die at some point anyway, could i at least die from doing something fun? I don’t think anyone has been given eternal life yet because of a smoking ban or a job-sponsored membership to the gym.

Anyone fancy going to a pub in Ireland with me? Bring a file or a saw and some asbestos. That’s legal.

Personally I don’t smoke, or don’t smoke often, but in a pub I think one should still have the opportunity to smoke.
