A Few Scanned Pics

Charter aircraft are a bit of a favourite of mines, so I thought I’d scan a few snaps of some of the colour schemes that are now gone for good. They are all scanned from 35mm photographs so please excuse the quality.

Feel free to add some of yours to the thread, from JMC to Caledonian and anything in between!

Now flying under the First Choice brand, I think I caught this Air 2000 Boeing 757 at Mombasa in 1997

A Boeing 767-300ER or the now defunct AV8 Air caught at Manchester in 2003. This aircraft was leased from Icelandair.

Now operating under the Thomsonfly brand, this Boeing 767 of Britannia Airways was snapped at Edinburgh back in 2002.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/martin43/brit767.jpg

Taken at Glasgow in 1999, this Boeing 757 is from the now defunct Canadian carrier Canada 3000, an airline created by Air 2000.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/martin43/can3000757.jpg

With a history dating back to 1967, Monarch has a long and proud history. This A320 still flies with the airline, albeit in a different colour scheme.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/martin43/mon320.jpg

A hybrid livery in which both airlines are now gone for good. Airtours International and the My Travel brand. Both airlines now swallowed up by the Thomas Cook brand, this 757 is still flying for the charter giant.

Airbus A320 in a hybrid Airtours and My Travel livery.

Boeing 767 again in a hybrid Airtours and My Travel livery.

Anyone got any of these?

Remember dealing with them some years ago!!!

Transwede MD87 (UK based charter unit)
Galaxy Airlines 737
Sabre 727
British World
Cronus Airlines
Flying Colours Airlines
Nordic European L1011 (NCL/MAN based)
Transaer
Seven Air – remember a 737 based in UK

Its always better to see the older ones scanned I think?!:D

Keeping with the charter theme, here’s some 35mm that i took as a kid way back yonder. The quality ain’t great and the scanner isn’t the best in the world and I’ve tried to give them a little life in CS2 so apologies in advance.

Now we’re talking 😀

As they are going to and all charter outfit what are the chances of Thomson Airways reverting back to a British classic?.

Thomson Airways is now Thomsonfly operating both charter and lo-co schedules with a very blurred crossover between the two.

I believe the intention is that it will be re-branded again as Tuifly giving it more chance of becoming a German classic. Can anyone confirm that this is still the intention?

OMG this is certainly a trip down memory lane!!!:)

Seeing those pictures of the old Air 2000 and Britannia liveries certainly has brought back many memories of previous holidays when I was young – and I am only 22 years old now!:D

Thank you so much for sharing those, look forward to seeing more soon!

It would have been G-JOEM (c/n 449), now PK-YVD of Batavia.

Aha my bad :D, cheers for the correction Lance.

More fantastic shots though Martin! I’m afraid my collection only goes back so far but here’s a couple of airlines that are no longer with us.

I’ll keep digging around, I may find a few more but here’s a few from Brum again….

Yep, when we went it was via a tech stop in Cairo 😉

Wouldn’t mind seeing a few pics of some JMC, Flying Colours and Caledonian aircraft!

ohh what a blast from the past, please bring back the Britannia brand Thomsonfly, it still looks as fresh today as it did years back.

As they are going to and all charter outfit what are the chances of Thomson Airways reverting back to a British classic?.

Love the BY shots. I always think it’s so sad that such a great airline with such a long history has evolved (and coninues to do so) into what it is now.

A few more from me, all scanned from 35mm prints so please excuse the quality 😉

Air Scandic Airbus A300 at Manchester, this aircraft went off to Turkey after Air Scandic ended operations in 2005
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/martin43/scan300.jpg

Ex British Airways Boeing 747 at Manchester. European Aviation later retired these aircraft, some to the boneyards in America and some to Kemble for scrapping
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/martin43/euro747.jpg

Still in use today, this Airbus A300 has been with Monarch since it roled off the production line at Toulouse in 1991
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/martin43/mon300.jpg

A sight that may be gone but not forgotten, regular trips made by the huge DC10 at British airports. This aircraft was taken on by My Travel after they bought out Airtours, however, they were soon phased out and replaced by the newer A330
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/martin43/mytravdc10.jpg

A troubled airline from the start. I’m not quite sure what went wrong at Air Scotland but with all the bad press, things were doomed from the start. Taken at Edinburgh, this 757 was leased from Greece Airways, SX-BLX I think was the reg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/martin43/scan0019.jpg

Back from winter lease with the Canadian outfit SkyService, this A320 was but straight back into service with My Travel
