I found this up at Elvington awaiting restoration at the back of the Handley Page Hanger for the museum display, still complete with internal cargo nets.

Bad weather seems to follow me around but I hope the shots are OK for you.

When I flew out of LGW last week did I see the one that used to be on display there hiding behind a building down near the fire dump?
Could have sworn I got a quick glimpse as we were rolling down 08R.
Anyone know the plans for her?

Thanks all, it’s turned into quite a topic this one. I think it would look great in whatever livery they paint it in because it’s just one of them planes that will look good no matter what.

Very Nice photos Stu,
Im sure it would look great in the old British United colours (which if I can remeber were white with a navy blue stripe down the windows and a navy blue tail) These often flew in and out of LBA to keep the Air Museums Yorkshire connection

Repaint? Then its got to be either Jersey Airlines, who I believe was the launch customer, the original British United colours or how about the classic British United Island Airways sandstone and blue “hockeystick” scheme?:)

We must be lucky here in Norwich we have two heralds, first, as you all know G-ASKK is in the museum ….

And then there is G-ATIG, she has been used for years for towing / parking practise, but due to corrosion in her nose wheel leg, she is now relegated to the fire dump !

I used to do loadsheets for the Air UK Heralds and also the Skyguard aircraft flown in the livery of Securicor. A lovely aircraft and nice to see images of one. Thanx:)

Thanks for posting. Fingers crossed they will clean her up and put leave her in her old Chanex colours.

Does anyone know what happend to the front fuselage part of ASVO. I saw it for sale on ebay a couple of years ago in B.A.F colours and wondered whether it still survived?

Good suggestion, the first aircraft I ever flew in actually, aged 0.5 (apparently)..:D
Likewise. Although I was a bit older than that….. 😎

There would simply have to be a Herald in BIA livery too! 🙂

Good Idea, keep it in Channel Express colours, with two other Heralds at least being kept alive all be them static, G-APWA in BEA colours and G-APWJ in Air U.K. colours, there spans a number of years of operation of the Hearld?
We must not forget the Norwhich Hearld as well there could be more,

But seriously, Air UK perhaps ? 😉
Not necessary as Duxford have G-APWJ in Air UK colours. Other choices for ‘VPN would be British Island Airways or keep it (after cleaning) in Channel Express colours, the last operator.:)

Yes, its going to be re-painted in Jet2’s livery and fly LBA-AMS for them!
(Reference to another thread about someone who liked travelling on Jet2’s ‘older’ aircraft!)

I’m sure that will look just lovely…:D

Thirty three years of faithfull service and 42918 landings, well done!
Some of them will have been mine and almost certainly pretty ropey!
Thanks for the pics….fond memories of early morning newspaper runs to Jersey although she looked a little tidier in those days.
Get the Darts running and I will stick my hand up to taxy it!
