I read in the paper today that the Yanks want to get their own security in the UK for a/c going to USA. Personaly I think they are now starting to over-react to 9-11, (to be quite blunt It Was Only ONE BUILDING)?? God knows how they would have reacted if ULSTER was in the USA between 1968 and 1999?? (sorry I forgot that they supplied a lot of the weapons and explosives that killed British Servicemen and civy’s.

I flew on a domestic flight from Luton to Inverness a few weeks before 9/11. The security check was the same as international ones, including emptying my pockets into a tray. By this time we had faced 30 years of terrorism. I drove into the Canary Wharf site a few weeks after the bomb attack. Two men in a small truck did that. I don’t think we need to be instructed on what a terrorist risk is. As I wrote on another thread recently the number of bags that go on the wrong flight show that security checks are still not good enough there. Then add a suicide bomber. 🙁

It sort of smacks us in the face though, we’ve been contending with this sort of thing for decades now, and I can’t remember the last time an aircraft leaving the UK was high jacked, Lockerbie is a bit of an exception and wasn’t the bomb thought to have been placed on board else where.

Nothing to worry about then. As long as it is not the same sort of security that allowed the hijackers on in the first place…

I say let them have their own sercurity that in effect takes the responsibilty off of our people and should mean we can look after other travellers instead,I don’t see it as over reacting it was the worst terrorist attack ever done and it is lightly something of its like will occur again somewhere,so anything done to prevent it has to be good,The USA has had parts of it Airforce based here since world war 2 nobody seems that worried on that now.

One building?
It was known as the Twin Towers! And I suppose the Pentagon doesn’t count either…
But then they have to make up for the fact that it was their security that was lax on 11/9, don’t they?;)
