Barcelona

In march of this year I will be going to Barcelona. I was wondering if any of you have been to Barcelona and what it has it store for me.
BTW: this is my first time flying so I will finnaly be able to know what being pushed back in you chair at take off feels like!

Top town

well worth the hike up the steps to the Olympic Stadium (where Barcelona’s “second team” Espanyol play their home matches) and the muesum that’s also on the site.

From there you should be able to catch the really scenic cable car all the way to the “beach” area which has some nice bars and a couple of trashy discos after dark. The harbour tour by boat is a pleasant couple of hours too.

The Nou Camp (Barcelona FC) and the museum, club shop etc. is worth a visit too if you like your football.

Once you’ve been there (mind you, even better on a match night) you will laugh when Man U fans tell you they support the “biggest club in the world” 😀

Saludos

Steve

Try the Claris (or the Ritz if you’re into the oldfashioned style). Nice girls there – if you got the money, honey, she’s got the time…
Security I don’t feel is a real issue, just keep clear of the typical tourist spots.

Been to Barcelone twice… great city… loved the place! Just watch anything valuable…. trust no-one… including very small children… Was watching a street performance by a mime artist… and felt something touch my pocket area… I turned quickly… with clenched fist… to give someone a “little” tap for trying to theive from me… but stopped just in time… it was a maybe 4 or 5 yr old girl wandering through the crowd feeling peoples pockets!!

You should have fun though! Lots to see!

I went to Barcelona 2 years ago, it’s not a bad place. I’m not into museums and art galleries and Barcelona is full of them.

I would recommend the Sagrada Familia though.

I been to a Barcelona once, very beautiful men there and some of the women were quite handsome too.. Couldn’t understand a word of what they were saying so I talked to them in Portugalo.. seems like most people there speak Castilliano or something like that.. be sure to stop by your local McDonalds there.

Hmmm… I seem to remember visiting the Gaudi and Miro museums, also the unfinished Sagrada Familia, the Olympic village and the Nou Camp Stadium.

The beach is very good, I took a boat trip around the harbour and also the hop on city bus tour. Talk a walk down Las Ramblas or sit in the Placa De Catalunya for some afternoon sun and pigeon fancying.

Watch out for the hookers, beggars and pick pockets and you’ll be fine.:D

Both Barcelona and Girona are worth the visit! If you are in the region of Girona, try to visit the Dali museums. (Figueras?!) I even think there are three of them. Though it’s already more than six years ago, that was about the only thing I can still remember from it. ANYTHING to keep you away from the costa brava where thousands of dutchmen and belgians are thundering with their caravans each year to sit on some dirty beach together with 1 million of your countrymen.

I’ve been to Barcelona twice, but I can’t seem to remember anything from it, except from the fact that it was the one and only Sabena-flight I ever took. :p

Talking about Dali and surrealism, here’s our belgian pride …
I don’t know who owns this Margritte-painting now, but after Sabena’s demise it was sold.

I’ve been, it’s very nice. I flew to Girona mind you and took a train south. Watch your pocket after dark, especially in the cathedral area.
