Recently I was reading in the book Fighter Pilot by Bob Doe about the development of heavy water by the Nazis at a place called Rjukan in Norway, and this rang a bell with me.
According to Bob’s book, an attempt by a force of British gliders to land and disable the hydroelectric plant there failed miserably, only for another, much smaller attacking force of Norwegian commandoes sabotaged the place and escaped unscathed. For this they were later decorated.
It rang a bell because in the game Medal of Honor, you have to infiltrate a hydroelectric plant… in Norway… which is developing heavy water… at a place called… Rjukan!!
If you know the MoH games, you’ll know that you play an American in them….
Not just in the movies, eh??

No its not a heavy water plant in Norway, its a hydo electric Dam in the Ruhr region of Germany where you knock out flak guns and generating equipment. The spectacular part of the Call of Duty Russian campaingn is definately the T-38 tank battle part. Absolutely gorgeous. They should really make an entire tank battle game from that. The Battleship part was impressive also. I spent time clearing that ship out in parts that didnt needed clearing just to see what it looked like. If they were to model the entire interior of that ship, you would have another good game in itself. The infantry combat in Call of Duty really isnt that much better than MOH. And the overall Call of Duty was a much shorter game than MOH which is a disapointment considering the price of Call of Duty.

You ought to try Call of Duty. There is a mission where as an SAS commando, you attack a heavy water plant in Norway. Also, the Russian campaign is spectacular.

I’m talking about the original game, on PSX.
You do play a female French Resistance fighter in Medal of Honor: Underground, but it was the resemblance to the Rjukan thing in the first one that got me.

Thats not true. I just started playing Spearhead, the expansion to MOH a couple of days ago, and you start out as British commandos.

Not Heroes of Telemark, is it? or is that something else?

And in the film the Norwegians were played by Americans too. Wish I could remember the name of the film. – Nermal
