I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for getting hold of my Dads service records and mine.
My dad was in the REME and luckily is still alive so there shouldnt be a problem such as I have read on other post like only direct relatives can order a copy etc.
Could someone point me in the right direction for me to get my Dads service record. What info do I need to send and where.
Any charges etc.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Good luck Merlin – I would be interested to know how you get on. I had a lot of hassle getting my sons records from that office.

Scott.
You can’t get your Dad’s records because he is still alive. He can get them for himself though. As for yours I’m not sure. I would have a word with your local TA unit as they can probably advise.
I think the address for your Dad’s records will be:
Army Personnel Centre,
Historic Disclosures,
Mail Point 400,
Kentigern House,
65, Brown Street,
Glasgow,
G2 8EX.
Send them as much information as you can to help them in tracing the records, name, dob, service number, units served with. Apparently they then send you a form to fill in and advise you of costs which I believe is around £25. And then it’s just a matter of waiting.
Hope this helps.
