I just spent part of Christmas Eve watching the movie the song was taken from (Donnie Darko) – completely unique film, but it’s not one to watch while you relax – you need to keep your mind on what happens throughout the film so that you can make head and tale of the ending!!

Any truth to the story that ‘Pap Idles’ ruined the John Lennon classic because Slade wouldn’t let them ruin Merry Xmas Everybody?

i really liked the song, i think the reason it did so well is that it touched a cord with the ppl with all thats happened in the alst few years. it would have been a No1 no matter when it was released.
PS, can someone please explain to me why so many ppl think the darkness is so good?

I think the song is pretty good. Very atmospheric although not my choice for the Christmas number 1. as it is a little too downbeat. Having said that Roland Orzabal, from Tears for Fears, said it was even better than their original version and it beats the manufactured rubbish from the Pop Idols 😉

Marvellous. The season of goodwill, the time of year when we celebrate the birth of Christ (well, some do), the season of peace to all men…
“The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had”
VERY festive…

Oh? And who was your money on then?
Suppose you long for the days when novelty acts like Mr Blobby and Bob the Builder topped the charts for Christmas?
But in answer to your question… Not me. I agree with you, actually – but if it was this or Mr Blobby…
