My first ever trip to STN. I hadn’t been able to go before due to the train service literally costing an arm and a leg. But I found a national express service which ran from near my home town directly to STN. Naturally, the weather men made a complete ass of themselves and only told me rain was forecast as I was about to walk out the door, at which point I was unwilling to turn back. And they also messed up on wind diretion, which meant I did not know which bus to take from the terminal and had a long walk to the end of the runway and used my initiative to find a good spot.
Found a spot right on the permiter road, no parking nearby which was probably most spotters don’t go here.
Started out with the usual stuff:

Then got a bit more interesting…

Then my welcome party arrived! I think this is the first MD-11 I’ve seen for 18 months.

Then the party continued with some more interesting arrivals, I really thought I was in for a great day, even if the sun had not appeared at all.

But then unfortunatley the party pooper arrived. I took cover in some nearby trees for about an hour hoping the rain would pass. Watching helplessly as the Germainwings and Air Berlin I wanted to catch arrived and departed.
The rain never passed unfortunatley, so I eventually turned back and went home. Pleased with what I had caught, but annoyed at all the stuff I had missed.
Anyway, as usual comments, help and criticism welcome.
Is there anyway of preventing those blown out skies? They’ve runied quite a few good shots.
Thanks,
Dan Irvine.
