I think it’s because the image is trying to drop cookies onto our hard drives.
I have my computer set so that Explorer asks approval of each cookie except for approved sites. Once I rejected the four attached cookies the little red cross appeared instead of the image.
If your machine is set to reject cookies without asking then you wouldn’t know.
