Hi All,
Tuesday of this week was spent at the UK’s very own Heavy Heaven… Heathrow! I was a little disappointed to find out they were on 09’s, although my disappointment turned to happiness when I discovered the 09L field is just a mere 15 minutes walk from T5! The light at the beginning of the morning wasn’t entirely ideal (you were right, Lance!) Although it soon came round and ended up being pretty much perfect.
Anyway… On with some photos. All taken with a 30D + Tamron 28-300 or 350D + Sigma 10-20.

MOOBS,
Are you that big that only are you classed as ‘heavy’ in the aviation world – but also that big, that you’re classed as more than one ‘heavy’? :p
Ha! I’m only classed as one ‘heavy’, Hamsterboy, although it is an AN-124!
Old Shape… Darkening the sky like that is actually easier to do than that. It generally works better with photos taken with the sun behind you, but all you do is simply open the image in PS and before adjusting anything, hit auto levels. This darkens the sky but makes the noise very noticeable, so you then darken the image using levels which makes everything very dark or black but leaves the aircraft and its contrail very clear. The only thing is you have to absolutely nail the focus and have a reasonable exposure, otherwise that amount of processing makes the end image look terrible!
Thankyou for your kind comments, all. 🙂

Great shots mate, love the real close up shots of the 767 and 777, really nice shots. What a difference a little bit of blue sky and the sun can make to a photo.

You already know my thoughts and views on these pictures mate – Great to see the US Airways & Continental!
We’re not used to seeing a post from you down in this part of the country. Hopefully this will become more of a regular thing.

Very, very nice paul! Pick for me are the ones pictured with the landing lights – superb angles!
Notice the US airways is sporting a miss-matched nose cone too.

On the way back I flew to Dublin with Aer Lingus, then home to LBA with Ryanair. That was all strictly drinking time, though. Hence no photos!
Thanks for the lift down, Steve. Very much appreciated!
Thanks for looking. 🙂
