Robert Palmer passed away on Friday 26th aged just 54.
He never found or sought the fame and recognition he deserved but so many of todays proper bands owe him a huge debt.
Such a powerful voice and a great R & B singer.
Who could forget the “Addicted to love” video ?……still raises my blood pressure, but so much of his better work is unknown to the main stream
Saw him live at Essex Uni many, many years ago. An outstanding night.
May your God rest you Robert and my condolences to your loved ones.

Far to young to die

Yes, very sad. Not always the most fashionable of pop icons but, very personable and a genuine singer as far as I could tell.

Sad loss.
Great musician – was in Vineger Joe in sixties – always had style – some great videos and album covers! (girl on the beach-early one-forget the name)
Some recent good songs :”Takes every kinda of people” and his version of Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy mercy me/I want you.”
Best Regards
Tony

Bugger…
Used to laugh at Femenists protesting that video he did where all the women were dressed the same, had the same makeup jobs, wore the same clothes, were of roughly the same age, height, skin colour, and all moved (danced) the same. The Femmes claimed it was cheapening women as mere objects, but I thought it was a great video. Even a moron could see each of the women were still unique, and while from a distance they looked the same, close up the differences were obvious… in other words the opposite of what the femmes were claiming.
