Yeah, but the Nazgul do attack the Rohirrim during the trailer, right? I wonder how they will resolve the Gondor horsemen? vs. the Oliphaunts; it’ll be like the battle of Zama all over again. Probably, Legolas will kill them with his unlimited supply of arrows.

Great, isn’t it? (though I don’t think the Nazgul are attacking the Rohirrim, that looks like the Harad & co. armies besieging Minas Tirith)

“Revolutions” trailer and posters are also available, http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com/

The scene of the Nazgul dive-bombing the Rohirrim near Minas Tirith really reminds me of that scene in the Battle of Midway when the Dauntlesses from the Yorktown, Enterprise, and Hornet are about to go postal on the Akagi, Soryu, and the other carrier whose name escapes me at the moment….Kaga?

Actually, what i disliked most about Revolutions was that it was so terribly overproduced but poor in balance. Rightfully bash me for sounding like a snob, but i thought ythat whole highway chase was simply pushing it – spectaculair as it was, i got the impression they milked every second of footage out of that sequence, with nowhere near the same intensity in the rest of the film.

Also, i have to agree with Garry that in no small part the original Matrix’ appeal was the eerie world in which it took place, which was even more eerie because it was only marginally explained. With Reloaded giving the first bits of explanation, this mystique for me is largely gone (except for the role of Neo – but who cares about Ted Theodore Logan Esq anyway?). What is left is some interesting flic about a future world where machines have taken over – some Terminator 5328 if you wish.

Oh, and since i’m sounding like a grumpy old git anyway: no matter how brilliant the LotR trilogy is, i still prefer Peter Jackson’s older work 😀

Most of my friends went into the second matrix movie expecting it to blow them away like the first one did and were disappointed. I’d thought a bit about it before the movie came out… most of the intrigue behind the first movie was “what is the matrix?”. Also the fight scenes were impressive, though I hate how the model the bullets in flight… they shouldn’t dig long thin tunnels in the air, they should have cone shaped bow waves that travel with them from the bullet tip.
What could the second movie do about that. The fight scenes were indeed impressive, and I thought the fact that the bad guy character has also become very powerful was a stroke of genius… who else can test the powers of Nero?

I did get the feeling that it was a bit of a Westly Snipes blade joke (ie he is armed with silver weapons and UV lights etc etc, but he has to break their arms and legs before he actually kills them) with some of the fight scenes. Don’t muck around… you’re Nero after all… all those powers etc… kill with each blow and get it done! Still we need out extended fight scenes.

Anyway this is a long winded way of saying I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the movie.

Regarding the Return of the King… I can’t wait, though it does seem rather strange having large tracts of Middle Earth within 3 hours drive from where I live… 🙂

What are you guys smoking?:) Reloaded was great (I’m prob. one of the very few who think so) in terms of expanding the mythology of the whole story.

On the other hand, I fully agree with you skythe- RoTK will be great! Have you seen the new trailer? The shot of the charge of Rohan is brilliant- although, I have to say that 6,000 horsemen charging is quite a small number- Murat led 10,000 heavy horse at Eylau, and the Rohan riders are anything but heavy horse, more like light skimishers/medium dragoons IMO.

I certainly hope “Revolutions” is better than “Reloaded”, but I must admit my interests lie a little elsewhere …

I thought reloaded was a big dissapointment… hope they do better with revolutions. I did like some of the anime in Behind the Matrix a lot though.

I am looking forward to it… just to see how they tie up the story.
