OK, the US won the war, technically. But if Saddam has got WMD’s, why didn’t he use them? He’s mad enough to do so. But he didn’t? There are only 2 options:
1. He thinks WMD’s are too cruel to use, which is very unlikely, cause we all know SH is a monster and will not hesitate to use them
2. He doesn’t have them. There are no WMD’s in Iraq.
Let’s just presume that option 2 is the right one. The US said Iraq is a danger to their national security. But without WMD’s, what could SH possibly be doing?
Just a question people. Let us be reasonable. Everyone has seen the pictures of celebrating Iraqi’s. I hope they get their freedom and democracy now, but I have my doubts.

Brazil has lots of things worth to live at more than women. Fantastic food, permanent summer, incredible landscape and enviroment, friendly people, stunning beaches, music………:)

GarryB,
I never said the SU-35 was crap, I said that I’d travel to Brazil to enjoy their gorgeous women, You on the other hand would enjoy their potential SU-35’s, By the way You have mis-read and distorted my entire post concerning Pearl Harbor….Debating on this forum is quite fatiguing! And as far as my posts, for all the US bashing going on here it is quite hard to sit back and take all your pompous diatribes without jabbing back…..Garry, my assessment of you still stands, I’ll be glad to chat with you about aircraft, but your political views are way over the top, I don’t think everything the US does is right, but as an A,merican I feel compelled to defend her when ******s like you spew your mis-informed venom. Example, all African Americans are discriminated against? If it were so bad why don’t they all go to New Zealand???? Your view of the US is by and large unsubstantiated, simplistic, and just factually wrong……like arguing with my 6 year old…..later, I’m outta here!
PS I’m serious about any aircraft questions etc I’d be glad to dialouge with you, as you seem to have deep knowledge in this area.

Hehehe… how often I get told I am a blind US hater, yet if you look back through the threads I have actually had some nice things to say about some American things… particularly the Apache helicopter. Yet so many American posters have pathelogical hatred of all things Russian or Soviet, but that is alright, I’ll just ignore the hipocracy.
And if you think the Su-35 is crap then I can safely ignore you opinions on aviation…

Very funny links… had a good laugh.
Regarding the economic forecasts these may be effected by the push for Hydrogen based fuel cells. Once the technology has matured there may be much less emphasis on oil, many attributes can be gained through less polluting substitutes.

Iraq has potentially the second highest oil reserves in the world, followed by the USA and Venezuela, both of these (excepting the USA) are using the EURO Benchmark as opposed to $$$$ Benchmark in oil trading. Russia have followed suit, Japan are threatening the same.
China by 2020 as forecast by World Fiscal Organisations will supersede the USA as being the worlds strongest economy, based in Southern China with Hong Kong being the main power base.

TTP, hard to believe you work for the USAF. I mean, the Su-35 is a wonderful ac. But the USAF also needs cleaning ladies, not?
Garry can defend himself, but I find your remark racist and sexist. Like Brazil has nothing to offer but georgious women. That’s like saying the US has nothing to offer but overweight hamburger eating rednecks.
By: seahawk - 12th April 2003 at 16:40
The weather could be another reason.
The idea that the US could plant WMDs in Iaq is a bit on the funny side, as this could be very easily found out as the inspectors should know very well which capability was available to the Iraqis and which not. Could be quite hard to stage this.
I believe they will find some WMDs (especially chemical weapons), if they are still useable will be a question most likely never answered.

PS…The only reason any man would want to live in Brazil, are the gorgeous women!!!!!!not SU-35’s LOSER!!!!

Garry B,
Your seem quite sad, Its like your so scared of a nation who has the balls, and power to stand up for what they believe is the right thing to do, It scares you? Take a lesson from me, don’t watch CNN or ABC., they don’t represent most Americans in their political outlook, especially CNN who’s getting crushed in the ratings. Bottom line, I’ve always heard NZ is a great country, But you seem to enjoy finding every wart about the US, We are the most powerful, richest country in the world, the most technologically advanced, our flag flies on the moon, Millions of people from all over the world fight to live here,( My Father for one) and for such a diverse population we get along pretty well, Ask yourself if the US was so horrible why do we do so well, I bet your lefty teachers have filled your head with soi much BS you can’t see the forest through the trees., I wish I were as smart as you, and lived in NZ where everyone knows their geography, and Foreign diplomacy is a popular pursuit
Looking back on history, I do note all the great accomplishmnets of New Zealanders in foriegn affairs? Ditto for alot of the other small people on this forum, The sun is shining finally here and I’m outta here, Give my regards to your boyfriend, and If I’m ever in New Zealand (probably when you need help from the US mil since your Prime Minister scrapped your Air Force) I’ll be sure NOT to look you up,

“What’s your point? That can be said about anybody…even you Garry.”
Very few people know everything that is going on around them let alone in other countries. Most of that information comes via sources like media or TV programs or movies… and when it comes to those three things in particular the US seems to be on send and not receive.
I quite agree that the average New Zealander is not that much more worldly than I would assume the average American. Being a small island nation it is easier for us to find America on a map than perhaps for an American to do the same and find New Zealand but such things are not really important… that is why I own an atlas… so I don’t have to memorise where everything in the world is.
The point is if you want to take on the role of world policeman a little back ground knowledge can be very useful in avoiding doing very stupid things and repeating past errors, or correcting a past injustice by imposing a new injustice.
From what I saw on CNN and ABC news the Serbs were always the bad guys… evil. I don’t think Ink or JAG or other Serb posters here are evil… leads me to the idea that CNN and ABC might be wrong… just might be of course… my own personal experience lets me know there are some very bad people around and they are happy being bad and don’t want to change. There certainly must be some bad Serbs, but equally there are bad members of the Croat community and the Bosnian Muslim community and indeed the actions of the KLA would lead me to conclude they were a terrorist organisation that didn’t represent the Kosovo Albanians at all. The US government didn’t care, and the US media never seemed to question the stance of the US government. The result is a fragile peace that is simmering below the surface… the large power blocks that ended up facing off in WWI are now gone but even small localised wars can be very bloody.
“Just to enlighten you about Americans. You state Americans don’t know about tIf you plan on getting technical I’m speaking of the New York Metro-area about 20 million”
WOW… that is amazing… I come from an Island nation too that was populated by other cultures as well.
The fact that you have places populated by people who have come from somewhere else like Italy or China is not very unusual. The fact that these people tend to live together in places often named after their ethnic group like Little Italy or Chinatown inside areas populated by other people suggests that the integration of people in the US is not much better than in other places of the world. Looking at your TV and Movie culture it seems “black” TV programs are made… though now they have token whites, and white programs with token blacks…. how many black people or asian people do you see on Friends for instance? Apart from martial arts movies the only TV program I can recall off the top of my head with an asian guy in an important role was “that 80s show”. If your integration in society is going as slowly as the integration in your entertainment then it is certainly not the melting pot you describe… which is no great surprise really… there are many other places in the world like that.
“Your remarks are bourne out of some petty jelousy envy, or maybe an American stole your girl/boyfriend in the past?”
Ahh yes… I must be jealous… strange that I am both ignorant of what the US is like, a US hater, yet all at the same time I want to live there.
I am quite happy here in Middle Earth thank you.
The only place in America that I would ever have an interest in looking around is Canada, and also perhaps Brazil… especially if the latter buy Su-35s.
By: David Burke - 11th April 2003 at 22:28
Can I just say going back to the thread that Saddam Hussain cannot be considered a ‘Madman’ by any stretch of the imagination. To hold onto power for so long in the ‘melting pot’ of the Middle East and indeed probably survive a number of assasination attempts has proved him to be both cunning and ruthless.

Kev35,
Even though you are way too smart for me, If your ever in New Jersey drop me a line and I could gladly set up a visit to a level D flight sim for the C-141, also an air -refueling simulator as well, both highly authentic. There is plenty of room for access and most sim techs are happy to show enthusiasts around. We’ll never agree on politics as you all seem to live in an alternate Universe, (humor) but flying is a common passion,
PS I’ve seen a few planes modified for pilots who are wheelchair bond, the controls are all rigged to accomidate hand controls,

Fair enough, but take more care where you aim please.
“As far as friendly fire, Tell me Kev You’ve ever flown at 500 plus knots 300 feet AGL and try to find a target??? I’ll bet you haven’t,”
No I haven’t, my wheelchair won’t fit into a Tornado or Harrier, and the glovebox is far too small for my crutches…..
“but I’m sure your an ace on your combat flight simulator.”
Now if you’d said a*se on CFS you may have been right. Don’t take any notice of what Snapper says I managed to shoot him down a few times, or then again he probably died of old age and boredom.

Snapper,
I threw the soccer field reference in there for the benefit of my European friends, I originally wrote football fields, (American Football that is) and whats up with Farm boy? I told you I’m from New York City, Enjoyed the stab at humor though. Your right about the IRA Like I said originally 9/11 changed the way the US operates not the rest of the world.
PS I find soccer boring, but my daughter loves it! she’s actually pretty good at it.
By: Snapper - 11th April 2003 at 18:42
“This is a totally different concept of warfare”
Tell that to us Brits. We’ve only been dealing with terrorism for my whole life and longer. (I’m sorry, where did PIRA get most of its money from?)
And Kev is crap on his flight-sim by the way, and before spreading accusations on sexuality, farm-boy, I suggest you refrain from marrying your sister/horse. And how the hell would you guys recognise a ‘soccer’ field anyway? From the TV? (My equally crap attempt at humour).

It was a stab at humor, I thought it was funny, There’s so much US Bashing on this forum its hard to stand by and discuss issues without throwing a few daggers here and there. As far as friendly fire, Tell me Kev You’ve ever flown at 500 plus knots 300 feet AGL and try to find a target??? I’ll bet you haven’t, You can even ask the most professional aviator form the RAF and I’m sure he could tell you how difficult it is, Hell its damned hard finding a drop-zone the size of 5 soccer fields on a sunny day flying at 130 knots!! but I’m sure your an ace on your combat flight simulator. Your all too smart for me, Now go back to your boyfriend!!! Just Kidding!!

“So I believe most Americans have a far better understanding of different cultures than the average New Zealander!!!!! and as horrible a place as it is, millions around the world still try to come here, I wonder why??”
A veritable melting pot of people who are largely tolerant of each other, with the odd exception, such as the KKK and other organisations who espouse the virtues of white supremacy. Remember many American ‘sub-cultures’ show their tolerance of others in the form of gang warfare. Jews went to America as much as they went anywhere else to avoid persecution. The original African-Americans’ didn’t go there by choice, but to join the institution of slavery, abolished 140 years ago but you were a bit slower with the issue of segregation.
“Your remarks are bourne out of some petty jelousy envy, or maybe an American stole your girl/boyfriend in the past?”
Now this is what I find worrying. Only two weeks ago you were telling us how you were off to fly a mission. Therefore you must be reasonably educated, technically competent and one would hope have a measured temperament which enables you to act with reason at times of tension or crisis. This you ably demonstrate by your thinly veiled assumptions of someone’s sexuality. You may be an A-10 pilot, fly C-135’s or C-141’s or for all I know you might be the base dustman, but if this is the attitude you take with you into the air when’flying a mission’ God help your allies. Perhaps that’s why there are so many American inspired friendly fire incidents?

Garry B,
Just to enlighten you about Americans. You state Americans don’t know about the rest of the world, but I doubt if you have ever been to America because you’d learn something Astonishing
My Father’s Italian we still speak it at home, though I never really learned, My neighbor is Jewish, the people down the street are from Pakistan, and my wifes best friend is Brazillian, her accent is so thick we can hardly understand her. I live in New Jersey, by the way. I grew up in New York City, here’s some interesting facts about my “isolated” upbringing
There are more Jews in New York than Tel Aviv
More Italians than in Milan
More Puerto Ricans than in san Juan
More Irish than in Dublin
and of course 25% of our population are African-Americans
and 20% hispanic
also more Muslims than in Baghdad
and the list goes on,
If you plan on getting technical I’m speaking of the New York Metro-area about 20 million
I dare say my neighborhood in New York was nick-named the United Nations!!! and for the most part everyone got along well
So I believe most Americans have a far better understanding of different cultures than the average New Zealander!!!!! and as horrible a place as it is, millions around the world still try to come here, I wonder why??
Your remarks are bourne out of some petty jelousy envy, or maybe an American stole your girl/boyfriend in the past?
Arthur, the CFM engines are a collaboration between General Electric and Snemca guess which half designed the engine?
Your economic statements expose your intelligence, stick to the aircraft stuff, your expert in that field.
