Here today, a tv journalist was commenting how powerful and big the B-52’s are, while footage of Tornados was being showed….

BBC showed an interview with a US Marine XO in (I think) Basra. Conversation went something like this:
USMC – “Some Iraqi soldiers are removing their uniforms and wearing civilian clothes. They are shooting at us”
PRIK – “Is that dangerous?”
PRIK, by the way, is NOT an acronym.

Sky News again!
Their journalist Keith Graves kicked it off by getting all excited showing a live video phone link from an airbase with A-10s taxying. The aircraft he described to the viewers are “A-10 Prowlers”. Within minutes the next journalist, Jeremy Thompson, broke in and continued with telling the viewers about the “A-10 Prowlers”. It then went back to the studio with Francis Tusa who didn’t correct the “Prowler” gaff, but proceeded to inform the public that A-10s were operated by the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corps .TJ
A 10 Prowlers…LMAO! 😀 😀
And to add another Indian media channel…..describing the B 52 as a stealth bomber and showing footage of Tornados in flight and calling them F 16s. God!

Snapper,
We were actually quite lucky; one of the comentators had them down as weapons of mass destruction – fortunately she was corrected by her colleague who said that they were a significant threat to allied vehicles as they crossed into Iraq.

They found some Stingers in the UN compound, which must have been put there by Iraqis. According to the BBC they are very effective anti-tank weapons.

The last time I mentioned the Indian media had reported something wrong, I got flammed off the site by people who accused me of being a Pakistani and all sorts things I could barely understand
Why did you dream that up tempestis? When one makes ridiculous, idiotic and laughable commentry and flame like yours, one should expect to be countered and brought to the ground. And it was’nt about any media,it was just about your laughable and uneducated attempts at analysis of things like the flanker. And ofcourse you won’t understand because you’d need to have some some sort of aviation knowledge for that. :p

Crickey! I am starting to wonder about this Francis Tusa guy, he is supposed to be a fairly respectable analyst that writes the rather expensive to buy DEFENCE ANALYSIS articles!

Journalists to replace chickens
Did you all catch the item about the US Marines chickens? Apparently they brought 50 to Kuwait to act as alarms due to their sensitivity to chemical weapons. Most quickly died due to the mount of sand they ingested while pecking the ground.
When the Marines first looked around for a chicken replacement, they quickly noticed that most of the many journalists assigned to them, can’t be bothered to wear their chemical protection gear. Problem solved. Make sure a journalist is assigned to each combat unit. 😀
The Marines are now going to use pigions as well.

Heard about F16’s taking off from an US aircraft carrier !!
By: Dazza - 20th March 2003 at 18:59
Apparently some blithering brain-cramp on CNN also introduced footage of F-14s and F/A-18s as secret film of F-117 Stealth Bombers about to go into action!
Regards, Dazza.

Jonesy,
I’m with you on this one. I remember tearing my hair out practically every day during the ’99 conflict as journalists got fact after fact wrong.
My favourite was a Times report which had the MiG-29 pegged as the fastest combat aircraft produced in the Soviet Union, which is why it is such a threat to allied pilots. Although, it was also interesting to her that the USN launched several high-tech F-19 fighters in order to attack their targets in Nis, the largest town in norther Kosovo.
