I’ve been off line for a while for various reasons and when I come back I stick my head round the door and what do I see? Iraq this George Bush that, moans, groans, depression, whinging, whining, come on cheer up!! It seems like paranoias taken hold!!
So! where is everybody taking their summer vacations this year or perhaps a spring holiday?

RE: Be Happy!!!!!!!!!
I agree Rabie , Harleys are stone age , Goldwings look ridiculous and handle like a barge , what you learn offroad stands you in good stead for stupidity on the road , ie if your spinning a KX250 out of corners now you won’t panic when your road bike starts spinning the back wheel in corners – get yourself a wee NC30 or a RVF400 great wee bikes , nippy as hell and handle like scalpels , cheap to repair when you bin them too.

RE: Be Happy!!!!!!!!!
Looks mega , I’ve spotted a boat down at South Queensferry (25 min away) and it has twin Yamaha V6 3000cc 2-strokes , when they guy hits the firewall the thing just digs in and takes off , makes a superb noise , they were doing Queensferry to Burntisland in minutes . My dad’s friend has a big cruiser thing with 2 Volvo Penta motors in it , neat kit if you have the cash .
I’ve been on one of the RNLI RIB’s down the Ayrshire coast (another BAD story , but that’s for later ) , twin Fletchers , we were just in sight of Stranraer when we got picked up and they towed our boat back to Ballintrae ( while giving the 3 of us dogs abuse ) , cut the line and let Frasers boat wash onto the beach before trying to scare us to death in the RIB .I’ve done MANY stupid things in my time but I’ve NEVER set foot in a boat since then.

RE: Be Happy!!!!!!!!!
talking about boats…now I’m really happy !
The engine on the back of my boat in the piccie was 115Hp straight six two stroke. with a 19″ pitch prop (prop moves 19 inches for one revolution !) she would pull a water skier out of the water and upto planing speeds like a champagne cork out of a bottle. Most boats that size run with max of 80 HP so there was a considerable difference in speed. With the 19″ on the back I got her upto 45MPH (GPS confirmed) but with the engine trimmed there was hardly enough boat in the water to maintain directional control !. tried her with a 21″ pitch prop, acceleration was marginally slower but top end peaked out at 53 MPH(see last piicie taken during a test run with the 21″ fitted)…not bad for 17 foot long speed boat. !!!
I also have use of of a 29 foot Bayliner with a five litre inboard. Does an honest 45 MPH with nine adults on board (See first piccie). Goes like hot sn*t!
I’d like to say that I’m still happy.
The boats I use for powerboat training courses are RIB’s. this one’s got a 100HP four stroke on its rsend and again will do close to 45 with six adults on board. Best is when there are only four on board and you are out in heavy seas, wave jumping !!Real adrenalin rush that is I can tell you.
Its brill out here…warm sea, sun and fast boast to play with…unbeatable !
Cheers
Gary
Ps I’m still happy !

RE: Be Happy!!!!!!!!!
Bloody hell , one of the guys from our local mo/bike shop (Howard Cross Motorcycles ) has an almost identical Harley but his ape hangers are even taller – I hate the things , bits keep dropping off them !!! , after a smash about 4 years ago they let me out of hospital 4 days early to get ready for my wedding , crutches and kilt and all that ##### , day before my wedding I took Howards 1200cc out , the front wheel spindle lost its castle nut , ths spindle slid out half way , the wheel jammed between the fork legs and spat me off – couldn’t walk / dance or move at my own wedding.
Neat wee Honda though , me and my eldest son (Jamie ) have a Yam TY175 and a TY80 .
Like the ‘Blades too , bit more predictable than an SRAD or R1 , less prone to tankslapping . I’ve never seen an R1 which is more than a year old and has never been on it’s side ( or flipped ). Anyway , roadbikes are a no-go in my household now , wife doesn’t like PC Plod chapping the door with the bad news.
Tell me more about the size of engines on these boats you use , they look handy !!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-02-03 AT 05:13Â PM (GMT)]Yup…’Smee allrighty.
Actually sold the boat today. Cos I teach on powerboat courses most weekends, I rarely got the chance to use it…sides which, when I’m teaching, I get given a boat and fuel and it dont cost me a cent to run !!!,and I can put the dosh towards some bits for my bike.
The skull and cross bones bandana is now getting very faded so its being pensioned off soon….its replacement is a No Fear jobby with flames down the sides !!!. Tends to unsettle our students on the powerboat courses when all the instructors arrive on Harleys and then wear identical ‘flamed’ bandana’s and start talking about monstrous sea’s and close quarter manouvering in force six gales …hey, ya got have a laff or two…then we take ’em out and show em how to do it and let them have a go !.
I lied…I love it out here.
Cheers

RE: Be Happy!!!!!!!!!
Malta the End of the Month for a week.
Who in their right mind would want to go to Guernsey, not only is it the only place I know that has a don’t look a like competition, they all have six digits to each hand and foot as well as horns and tails.
Mind you I can confirm that they at least now have colour TV, I saw two guys painting one on the quay the last time I stopped off whilst returning home.

RE: Be Happy!!!!!!!!!
I might get a weekend in Palm Springs some time this spring. Later this summer I hope to get to London/Wales to visit relatives. This coming November, there are rumblings about Costa Rica.
If I am really lucky, me and my main squeeze will get a week’s cruise on the Windstar through the Panama Canal later in the year.

Well I am off skiing in Andorra on Friday. My major holiday this year is North Cyprus, however, I am staying in Istanbul first for a few days. Other than this I might go to London and on a few spotting trips as I want to try out a few aircraft. Probably going to France as well though nothing planned…
