Farnborough, Lasham, and a DC-8!

In my morning check of Flytecomm I noticed that African International Airways were sending a DC-8 into Lasham for some maintenance. After posting on my local newsgroup and finding out that this was a DC-8 54 with Chapter 2 engines, I made no hesitation in heading down to Lasham in my lunch break to catcher her. Messed up the first photo sadly, but got quite a nice one of her on short finals I think.

Oh and for those that didnt realise, Chapter 2 engines are supposedly banned in Europe! This one had a special dispensation to come in for maintenance 😀

A6-ESH and A6-AIN the summer is fast approaching so there will be lots more. I think record number from last year was about 6, Rob will probably be able to confirm this.

I saw the UAE A319 and the BBJ fly over my house on its approach to farnborough. Did you catch the regs?

Great shots there. I really like the DC8

Later on I popped into Farnborough for a bit. Soon after arriving Roman Abramovich’s heli LX-HEC did a low approach and go around. After a few of the usual biz jets a VIP CRJ arrived, enabling me to get a nice shot of one aircraft taxiing onto the ramp, a line of aircraft on the North apron, and the UAE A319 and one of their BBJs parked up.
