Okay, we’ve had a question on favourite beers, so what beers do you really hate the taste of? My pet hates are Duvel and Orval (though Orval has to have the world’s prettiest brewery, in the Belgian Ardennes). Another I’m not keen on is Kingfisher, a little too watery. I’m not a big fan of Hoegaarden either – tastes a little soapy to me.

RE: Least Favourite Beer
San Miguel used to give me the most MASSIVE headache.
The best? It’s got to be Tiger Beer – after all, it IS the logo of my RAF Squadron, No 230 (check out the badge – it’s true!)

RE: Least Favourite Beer
I forgot to mention that Stella doen not seem to be the same beer here in Belgium, and abroad. Our is really bad and low class, where it is sometimes better in other countries.

RE: Least Favourite Beer
Haven’t really drank for a few years now so not really qualified to comment on current beers. However, anyone from the UK of a certain age will probably relate to this.
My local pub was supplied by Banks’s brewery and written above the urinals in the gents toilet was the following legend…
This is where good beer is turned into Ansell’s.

RE: Least Favourite Beer
Here in the US, we have so many choices. Where do I begin?
The US used to have a wide variety of wonderful, full bodied regional beers that rivaled the beers of the world. But in the 1920’s the US entered a terrible dark period when all alcohol was banned! The small regional breweries died and only a few large brewers struggled on by selling milled grains, etc.
Once the taps were turned back on in the 1930’s, American’s taste in beer had changed. A combination of large brewers serving larger regions, more women in the work place (and in the taverns) and a generation of Americans learning to drink for the first time drove the US brewers to make a lighter, sweeter brew. Brewing industry consolidation in the post WW2 era has created three huge US brewers that serve 90% of the US market.
There is a growing market for darker, richer beers in the US and we do have access to wonder local and international beers. But the mass market over here is pretty dismal.
Bud, Coors, and Miller are horrible swill. Samuel Adams is a reasonably good lager that is brewed to German beer purity law standards.
How is making love in a canoe like American beer?
Because they both are f*cking close to water.

Without contestation, Stella Artois. You have to be drunk to drink that poison…

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-02 AT 02:58ย PM (GMT)]I do not like Budweiser. Its got to much soda (bubbles) in it and it tastes like water. The Dutch beer I do not like is Amstel beer. The name is from the river running through Amsterdam and is probably used without purefication, that is I think the reason for its bad taste.
