Well, guys. The germans have high speed train, the french too and the Japanese as well…..We also have a high speed train. I am not including the AVE which travels from Madrid to Seville because it´s a TGV. Major works are taking place here to link Madrid with all spanish regions. Each will have a different High Speed. TGV in one place, ICE 350 in other, and the first Spanish one too. The prototypeIt was essambled some weeks ago and has made his first test flying at more than 350 km per hour also a couple of days ago. Here your the pic. Odd as the Spaniards 🙂

RE: Malaysia first high speed train(not really fast actually)
KLIA EXPRESS express rail link -runs from KLIA to the city centre with a world first check in facilities within the city.So you dont have to be at the departure hall in advance-just check in at the rail station and your flight will automaticly confirmed.
Putra LRT among of the light rail systems in Malaysia(unique cause its systems also runs underground+it is the world longest fully automated systems.

Shinkansen
While they may not be as fast as some of the Euro types, the Japanese Shinkansen is still the coolest design group IMHO. And not to mention a very comfortable ride.

RE: Spanish high speed train pic
the problem with trains in the US is that people have the perception that it’s yesterday’s technology comparing with airplanes yet costs just as much to travel in…never mind the longer times required. As to the quoted top speed of the 777, isn’t that the ground speed at sea level? Once at altitude, it’s much faster than that..almost 50% more right? And you’re cuting across lands and earth curvature. Remember long time ago, (~2years) there was a post on trains vs airlines, and i favored the idea of major airports supported by trains. Ie, a few international airports…huge ones, supported by quite some high speed train routes all across Europe. Or for the US, you have a major 10-20 runway airport in the Mojave dessert and high speed trains carry them to all over California. Gone are the airport congestion problems. Of course you will only get the backings from companies like Boeing and Airbus if they built the trains, or else they will constantly feed you that antique train perception.

RE: Spanish high speed train pic
trust me frank the tunnel to lndon bit is being wokred on
they are diggin up all of knet and building the first new railway in a very very long time (since on one can reember) – the uk built the first railways and they were never destoryed – hence they never got straightened out, recived longer platforms, etc due to age
the new london to tuneel line willl be flat, fast ,etc ,et cbut will cost the taxpayer billions just to save 35 minutes of a train journey

Many people have said over here that it´s not beautiful either. But the Talgo makers, which is brand which have making train for many years (in fact convetional long range are Talgo, and are exported to countries like the US and Russia) says that technology doesn´t have to provide beautiful things, and have claimed that this is the best aerodinamic shape to improve performance. Who knows.

RE: Spanish high speed train pic
Well, the problem with the british tracks is that they aren’t vert flat. Where the people who built it drunk??? 😉 When travelling with Eurostar, the part between the Tunnel and London is very long due to the fact that the train has to drive very slow. And sometimes, you can experience sea sickness due to the track.
Are the british companies now introducing aerial electric lines like in Europe?
Anyway, I have to agree with Hand, the Thalys and Eurostar are nice trains…when operating on high speed tracks! 😀 If they operate on classic tracks in urban areas, they’re very uncomfortable due to the lengthog the crs, and the fact that you have one boggie for 2 cars.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-10-02 AT 08:42 AM (GMT)]At least it moves….
Virgin trains are supposed to introduce the Italian made tilting trains on UK routes, but because of the tracks they can’t go at their full speed!
I’ve seen the French TGV and that is a beautiful train. The speed is magnificent on it. However,I doubt it could work in the UK because to run the train at full spped you need miles of flat, open countryside, which France has.
The trouble with the French trains is that the country is centralised. This means that to catch the main trains, for example Paris-Lyon, I would have to jump on a train at a place called St.Malo to Rennes and from Rennes to Paris…a confusing system!
Anyway, the Spanish trains look different to say the least, but whats what with a modern rolling stock with a modern and distinct look?

RE: Spanish high speed train pic
Yeah those high speed trains are really nice. I’ve travelled with the Eurostar and the Thalys. (London and Paris).
Air France leases seats in the Thalys, as for them it’s cheaper than having to maintain an extra flight from Brussels to CdG Paris.
