Well, I finally had my first solo flight today. It has been much delayed because of weather but I finally did it. I was nervous until I got rolling on takeoff and then it all seemed to fade away. I felt like this is what I have been after all along. I don’t know that any of you really care but I thought I’d mention it anyway. My aircraft is currently Cessna 152 II (N49491).

Well done Phantom!! I never forget my first solo flight. It was the independence day of Venezuela (5 of July), and the F-16 were coming from the parade on Caracas (I live in Maracay, 70 miles from Caracas, and the base for the F-16), I was on final, putting a little more of flap (C-152), and when I raised my head, 6 F-16’s passed in front of me at about half a mile!! what a wiew!!. That was about 12 years ago in 1990!!

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I appreciate it. Glad to know that even though I annoy the hell out of all of you that we can all still get along at time despite our differences. And Kev, I’ll make sure to keep better tabs on my messages.
On another note I fly again tomorrow, and it’s supposedly similar to what I did today so I hope I can pull it off two days in a row!

Good job F-4. I did some flight training in the 152 myself, although I found it to be plenty fast, it felt underpowered and a little stretched on a climb. If your like me, youll be anxious to move up to other a/c. Aerobatics training and a sailplane license I think are good things to make a pilot well rounded and ready for the unexpected.

You must have an incredible feeling of satisfaction tonight. How many hours do you need now for your license? Good luck to you. A friend of mine was on his second solo flight when he had an engine failure in a Cherokee and force landed in a wheat field. He is a now a chief flying instructor at the club he learned to fly with and he says it is still one of his most exciting achievements. They parked the aircraft in a corner of the field and when the wheat was harvested two days later the aircraft was flown back out undamaged. I think he has somewhere around 8,000 hours in his logbook now.
