Madrid, 06/10/07

During my holiday I went a few days to Madrid. Two days where spend at the airport, of which here are the results of the first day. The photos of the second day will follow some time in the next few days.

Madrid is a great airport for photography as you can get very close to the planes. I only got to go to the spot with taxi shots, as the approach needs a car to get there. I walked to the spot I went to, but it did require half an hours walk. If you go there, stock up on water and food as you are pretty remote and in the sun.

Directions to the spot can be found at my site. A log with the planes seen is also listed. In a two day period (not counting arrival day) I saw 487 planes of which 235 where new to me! Very good score!

Also, since Ryanair actually flies here doing a cheap day-trip is doable. Definately something I will do more. In my case inbound ETA from EIN is 12:00 and outbound ETD is 06:00. Since the spot is only really good from 13:00ish (earlier and you are facing the sun) this is acceptable. The early flight is troublesome, my last night in Madrid was spent at the airport restaurant cause it would be useless to spend money on a hotel.
