How many of you have heard of David Blaine performing yet another illusion?
This time around he’s stood on a 10-storey high flag pole which is where he’ll remain until tomorrow. For 2 days and two nights he is up there and some might question why.
The only thing I’m questioning is where the magic is in what he is doing?? Anyone can stand up there, whether it be for a couple of minutes or for two days, it’s not exactly something we’re going to question as to how it’s done.
I think to be buried alive, standing on a pole at that height and freezing yourself in a block of ice is just pure stupidity, the guy really is insane! He’s going to jump from his pole onto a pile of card board boxes and the slightest fault with his jump could kill him, perhaps doing this might teach him a lesson: not to be quite so stupid next time around!

Is he mad? possibly, is he making shed loads of cash out of his ‘stunts’? definitely, but these things a side, you try standing in the exact same spot for 35 hours, not to mention at the top of an 80ft pole, I think you will find it is quite a challenge both mentally and physically, I’d be on me arse after about an hour!}>

I reckon the bloke should be put on the electric chair and given a minute to escape and avoid being fried to death… of course, he’s so good with his Paul Daniel’s Magic Set that it’d have to be made impossible with extra straps to keep him attached to that chair for the full minute!
I’m quite surprise that The British Government are allowing such a thing to take place, that is if what you are saying is true. I think people who put their lives in such danger are nutters and deserve to die (forgive me if that sounds sick) because they obviously don’t have much to live for.
Another thing, that GMTV interview last Summer was embarrassing for poor old Eammon Holmes who had the job of talking to him. He didn’t say a word and simply used his head to say things by nodding, what a w***er!

T5 his next illusion is over here in the UK!He is going to be thrown off a bridge over the Thames in a secure box,his job will be to get out of that box….just like that Magician Hujini did?

Well, firstly, if he IS perched on that pole, it’s not exactly an illusion…
I must admit I was a bit disappointed to see that a lot of his street magic tricks were easily explained in the Mirror newspaper a while ago. It went from “bloddy hell, what’s going on there?!” to “OK, well done, nice illusionist”.
This challenge as well as the one where he is encased in a block of ice and the one where is is buried alive seem different in that they are more of a challenge he puts himself through. I think he once explained about the need to go to the boundaries of life and existence to feel alive, or something along those lines.
Why not…? It’s his life after all. As long as little kids don’t take their cues from him and attempt to replicate his ordeals, I don’t see the problem.
Should he die thugh, unless he is reincarnated, I doubt the leeson will be of much value to him…

I still don’t think he is all there,this is what I got off Ananova about his interview on GMTV:
The street magician seemed determined to say as little as possible as he joined Holmes on the sofa and stared deeply into his eyes.
At one point, Blaine revealed an image of an eye on his left palm explaining it was ‘protection from death’.
Eamonn told The Mirror: “It was a nightmare. He was seriously spooky. He was obsessed with death, but I would have thought death would have been a happy release for a guy like that.

It was really funny when you watched it!but seriously he did seem 100% strange,the look in his eyes and the way in which he spoke really did make you think he is not all there as can be seen now by his stunts!

I think David is right, he’s probably got some sort of a deal out of it. I wouldn’t be surprised to find him doing a tour soon and the media will have a new angle to gain publicity. I can see the interview now….
Interviewer “Mr. Blaine, please tell us what inspired you to stand 80ft up on a pole for 35 hours before jumping onto a pile of cardboard boxes?”
Mr. Blaine “It was an inner challenge that I had to conquer. By the way I’m doing a new show at ####### theatre in your city and the tickets are only $50 each.”
If he’s such a wonderful magician/illusionist, perhaps he could jump off the pole without the boxes to land on.

Hard to tell really ! – I seem to remember that people used to go over Niagra Falls in barrels and other people nowadays jump off crane’s on pieces of elastic so maybe Mr Blaine isn’t quite that daft.
I guess he is doing okay finacially out of it!
