I would like to say thank you very much to the Israeli govt for their effort to settle the Church of Nativity siege w/o any incident. This kind gesture could bring back Israel reputations to the proper level in the eyes of the world community.US,EU and certain Arab nations intervention also played a major roles in the effort to settle the standoff. This could be used as a yardstick for the Israelis to reshape their political moves in order to gain mutual peace in the MIDEAST.In other word, international intervention helps a lot to gain peace .Maybe the UN should be allowed to conduct their peace effort ASAP,please let international peacekeepers to help out in the MIDEAST.My hearts goes to the recent bombing victims/families,and i personally thinks the IDF should go after the bastards.Just please make sure there wont another Jenin.

RE: what??????
Israel does not reserve the right to ‘nab’ these people. It reserves the right to ask for their extradition. Any such request has to be supported by evidence, there’s no need to worry about that. There will not be any such request, and no such request is likely to be accepted, without ample evidence, of which, incidently, there is plenty.

RE: what??????
I’m a bit dissapointted with the statement by some Israeli officials saying that they reserve the rights to nab 13 of the Palestinians who were released last few days.As always the Israelis are willing to use any means available to get this allegged offenders. No proof were given to suggest this 13 men were involved directly in any suicide bombing. This move would make Israelis promises in the future -not to be taken seriously.Too bad.

RE: UN gets a new member
Switzerland will eventually join the EU, because they are in a very difficult position now, surrounded bu all EU-states. It’s in their best that they join.

RE: one sided claims????
If you really want to let a third party in to control the situation…it will have to be INDEPENDENT.
I can’t think of any country which is independent though! The UN is certainly not independent. The EU is a better choice, but I have my doubts about them too.
All I can think of is Switzerland!!
Does anyone know what happened in the Swiss referendum on UN membership? I think they were close to joining the UN for the first time??

RE: one sided claims????
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-05-02 AT 12:01 PM (GMT)]Tomel, Kofi Annan is not a Jew and Canada is not Israel’s “best friend”. That site was Canadian, yes, but its not a Canadian government site. There’s a big difference. And yes, it is one sided, but that’s the whole point. I was trying to show you our opinion of the UN, a subjective exercise by definition.

RE: one sided claims????
Okay Skythe,i’ve browsed some of the posting in the above mention sites.I would say that some of the fact are conclusive but they are a bit one sided.Canada seems to be Israeli greatest friend (friend in need?)but of course, most of the institute operatives used Canadaian pasport during their black ops.Eg.the failed operation to kill somebody in Netherland back in the 80s(pardon me cause i cuold not recalled details of the ops right now)all of the operators used Canadian pasport. In other words,Canadian unofficially has helped the Israelis a lot,so they naturally becomes your best friend.I got some info telling me that Mr Koffi Annan is a jew.If such claim is true then you should ask yourself why the heck your very own people betrayed you?Maybe he felt that something bad have been commited by the Israeli govt against the Palestinians. As i said before the sites is abit one sided, still quite infomative. Thanks and thank you again for ending the stand off peacefully.

And then again, maybe not. I couldn’t possibly think of another organization LESS conducive to Mid-East peace than the United Nations. They had nothing to do with successful agreements in the past, the Egyptian and Jordanian peace accords for instance, and that’s the way it should remain. If anyone doesn’t know of what Israelis think of the UN and why, feel free to visit http://christianactionforisrael.org/un/all.html
to get an idea.
