GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM SPECIAL!!

Hi all,

Just a little somthing to get the new section rushing with posts! (well hopefully anyway!)

What do you all do for a living? (student, bank manager, pilot, etc…)

I dont think this question has been asked before, but lets give it a go!

RE: GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM SPECIAL!!

USAF photographer for years… military
now a USAF photographer civilian. Currently work out of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins AFB, Georgia. Do all kinds of stuff for the Headquarter AF Reserve, and several other organizations including the biggest organization here the ALC mentioned above. All of the prime depot work on the C-5, C-141, C-130 ( USAF does the depot work on Coast Guard C-130s also ) C-17, F-15 A,B,C,D,E. LANTIRN and many other things including the program management for various weapons, PAVE LOW and PAVE HAWK. Also depot management of most of the less spectacular equipment that equips the USAF; ground maintenance equipment etc.
Flying units stationed here include the JSTARs, a tanker group of KC-135Rs, B-1B (Guard unit. The B-1s are going away and the personnel are converting to JSTARs) A Special Ops unit with an old rust bucket EC-137. (disbanding in a few months), A test pilot unit that test flys all the depot aircraft mentioned above. After they have been ripped apart and put back together the test pilots test them before the aircraft are returned to their home unit. A whole bunch of other stuff here that I forget at the moment. Travel every now and then to other USAF units.

RE: GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM SPECIAL!!

I’m a scientist and I work for a Dutch government’s organisation called NWO in The Hague. That’s the Dutch organisation for Scientific Research. I’m detached to work at the University of Maastricht (UM) and its University Hospital (AZM). I’ve set up a research study to investigate the molecular and cellular consequences of myocardial infarction (MI = heart attack) and if possible to find a drug that prolongs life expectancy after MI.

So I spent a lot of time in a lab. I also write articles for biomedical magazines. And I teach at the medical and health science faculties at the University.

My goal is to make teaching my full time job in time.

Best regards,

Ference.

RE: GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM SPECIAL!!

Im studying in an A+ certification class (general computer serviceing tech) in San Diego,Ca. This is a class where you spend 5 to 8 months to really learn the stuff rather than taking one of those 2 week courses to learn just enough to pass the test. After my certification I should have a better idea on what area I want to work in.

I’m currently doing AS-Levels at Sixth Form. I’m studying ICT, Media and Photography and have a weekend job at the one and only TK Maxx where I am a Cash Office Administrator and a Customer Service Advisor.

Still undecided as to what to do next though.

No, it’s not everybody!!
I’m a student in my final year, doing marine biology, which I won’t talk about because I don’t want to be thrown off for bad language. I always wanted to be a vet.

RE: GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM SPECIAL!!

I’m one of the few who can honestly say I do NOTHING!

Unfortunately I am unable to work due to ill health. In the past I have been a warehouseman, driver, qualified nurse (worked mainly in care of the elderly and surgery) and my last few years were spent working in the community as a team leader on various projects providing befriending, care and support services to children with disabilities and their families. I also qualified and lectured in further education colleges on the subject of children and young adults with special needs.

These forums help fill the days and for that I’m grateful.
