A Few from DC

Hi all, Just a few shots from my recent trip to Washington. Never really had time to get some good shots, these ones were taken through glass at LHR / Dulles. I had a few hours to spare before my flight back to LHR so I popped into the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum which is on the perimeter of Dulles airport. Apologies for the quality, my main computer has died and I am using my v slow laptop with rubbish screen.

All the best

Si

Nice shots Si… how was the trip?

I saw G-BYGE sitting on the Tarmac at LHR last week. You got some nice shots from inside the musuem. Are there anymore to come?

That Falcon… did FedEx ever really use them?!

Andrew, thanks for the comments, I took quite a few shots in the museum but they are mainly military and the space shuttle, so I guess they would not be very welcome on this photo thread. It was amazing to be standing beside the B29 that dropped the Atom Bomb on Hiroshima, the Enola Gay (all sorts of thoughts were going through my mind as I looked at her). The museum also had the Global Challenger, A Space Shuttle, Concorde and many many more aircraft. They really know how to display aircraft well. The trip went very well, however with only 2 days in the States it really does knacker you out. I was working at NAS Patuxent River where the USN carry out all their flight trials, managed to get up close and personal with the JSF F35.

Regarding the FEDEX Falcon 20, yes they had a huge fleet of these aircraft and belive it or not a lot of them are now flying in the UK as Flight Refuelling bought them who operate them for the Fleet requirements and Direction Unit based at Bournemouth.

All the best

Superb shot’s, Si! Funnily enough it was only yesterday I was looking at some photos of ‘Clipper Flying Cloud’. Must’ve been great to see the Dash 80 up close as well. That aircraft has some history!
