Cloudy Cumbernauld and the Carluke Convair

Popped through to Cumbernauld on Sunday for the first time in ages. Well, it was a right dreech day so not a lot moved. G-FEGN should have been in with Polly Vacher doing her Wings around Britain mission. Well, that didn’t happen due to the bad weather. In all, 2 PA28s moved, 2 R22s hovered around and an R44 came in, scooted around a bit and came back in. ONE photo was all I managed to get there … right at about the dullest, darkest period when the rain was coming on again.

With no activity we decided, for the hell of it, to pop down to the Reynard Nursery which is between Wishaw and Carluke on the B7011. We were lucky to get parked as someone had decided to park their GNAT there. Can people not just be content with a Range Rover or the likes ?

Further into the nursery there is a Convair 440.

Nice to see that, that Convair hasn’t gone under the knife! Lets hope that it’ll be taken care of!

Nice shots. 🙂

The Garden Centre place just has the CV440 and the gnat at the moment.
They are planning to make the CV440 into an accommodation, like a B&B with all sorts of trimmings inside.

Peter ….. the place at Cumbernauld is the grassy area you see in front of
you from the “terminal” side. To get there go left from the main buildings,
down the road till the end of runway 26, left through the industrial area and
you’ll come to a small barbed wire fence to keep the animals in. Head up to
the high ground and walk along there to pick your point. it won’t be any good
through the day when it is sunny though because the sun will be in front of
you.
