In 2004 the airline flew 15.7 billion ATKs, up 18.3% on the previous year, and load factor rose 5.1 points to 77.3%. Biggest gains in RPKs were made in North Asia, which grew 30.2%, with North America up 28.8%. North America services also had the highest load factor at 84.9%.
To cater for the record growth, Cathay is evaluating new aircraft and is understood to favor the 747ADV and 777-300ER. An order for both types is expected shortly. It has a fleet strength of 89 widebodies with another 15 on order through 2007.–Geoffrey Thomas
Certainly interesting.
The 2 airframes fit well into their current fleet philosophy.

Meanwhile, all the “armchair CEOs” over on A.net utterly deny any dissatisfaction about the A346 form CX.
Most of them are simply fans of Airbus. One or two I think may be Flight Attendants. But the majority are just spotters with opinions.
I’m hearing more about CX’s dissatisfaction and I’m convinced they’ll go, unless Airbus offer something irresistable. Like Buy 1 get 2 free. LOL

Rumor has it that the A340-600 will be leaving the Cathay Fleet when the lease is up. I know the reason why but I don’t want to start an AvB thread.
