The last in my set of threads from my New York holiday is on Detroit. When flying back home I decided not to take the direct KLM flight from Newark, but to make a stop at Detroit.
Main reason for the detour was to get to fly on a NWA DC9. Since DC9s are all but gone in Europe, and are soon to be gone in the US, this was likely my only opportunity to get to fly one. As a bonus I would have 5 hours to do some plane spotting at Detroit, NWA’s main hub.
Spotting here is possible, but only from one location. The terminal has large windows, but to keep the heat out they are covered with a polka-dot pattern. The only windows I was able to find that do not have these are between gate A76 and A78. All photos in this thread where shot from here.
