dark light

When you get a top image – and no one else thinks the same!!

Do you ever have that feeling, took this image a while a go as I was packing up to go home, cant get any of the pictoral sites to accept it and as I think its worthy of a mention I will display it here. If you dont like it – say so! they DID!

James,
Yes they are still flying, I was working with them in May. They are getting pretty old now and leak fuel from every orifice (including panel seams). The pilots are extremely professional as were the maintainers dispite there rather unauthordox ways of maintaining the jets. Most of the pilots are leaving the Harriers to train up on the new Mig 29MK which is an unbelievable machine.

All the best

Si

Cheers for info So the Indian Navy are the only one’s who fly Sea Harriers?

Regards
James

Nice shot danny, the 747 looks sweet like that – like i said in my original post, im never gonna stop taking photos in “contre-jour” lighting, especially backlit ones..I LOVE EM
even if JP & AF cant appreciate this kind of creative imagery

I know the feeling. Here’s a shot I took at sunrise at Heathrow last August. It was a BA 747 which did a go-around right above my head, and you can see it climbing away with the wheels just tucking in. It eventually got accepted on jp.net but no-one else seemed to like it as much as I thought it might.

A smashing shot IMO Mark!, One possible reasoning i can see for the rejection is that the aircraft may be somewhat small on the overall image? downright petty a reason it would be! The rejection reasons are increasingly bizarre on some of these sites. Personally i wouldnt get too bothered, I am sick of submitting shots with feeble rejection reasoning.
A well taken shot,Mark. as long as you know it then stuff what some screener who never got his jolly’s last night thinks!!

Mark, I wouldn’t let it bother you mate…I am sick and tired of sending what I think (and others) good photos to a certain .net site and I have had 2 accepted in 3 years. I also get frustrated when I compare my shots to some of the shots that are accepted and se the quality is inferior to mine but they have a 100% acceptance rate. They ask for rare shots yet I sent them a selection of photos of Indian Navy Sea Harriers http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/8623/hharke4.jpg
which I was recently working with and they rejected it saying there wasn’t enough information….Indian Navy Sea Harriers don’t have registrations only a 2 digit side number and it was on a ship in the Arabian Sea (which I told them).these aircraft are rare (they loose at least 1 a year in accidents)..so mate I gave up! Anyway off my soap box, your phot is excellent and well composed and awesome lighting…..keep it up!

Looks like Monarch to me mate! 😉

I’d give it a shot at JP though, it’s a nice shot.

I love it! Really nice shot. Did you try JP, they are a bit more relaxed with “atmosphere shots” (hate that word) like this.
