Spent an enjoyable 2.5 hours as BAA’s guests Saturday on an invited tour of EDI.
Our personal host was the Duty Manager, amiable Paul Fitzsimmons.
Alexander Livingstone (B55mused) and I were give our passes, yellow jackets and underwent stringent security checks before being allowed airside,
We toured the ramp first and then were ushered aboard a security patrol van for a very comprehensive perimeter tour.
Yes, we went right around all 12 square miles of EDI territory.
Then back we went to the terminal for an in-terminal tour and explanation of future plans.
The highlight was the visit to the EDI operations room high on the terminal roof.
We met various EDI personnel and they were all extremely
knowledgeable and professional..each and every one was passionate about Edinburgh airport. They answered questions willingly and openly, 10 out of 10 BAA!
I learned a lot and came away in the knowledge that
EDI has more oficionados on EDI’s staff than
folk imagine.
I took a few pics, they will appear in the forum when the image problems are resolved.
No doubt Sandy will have a more detailed summary of our visit. 😀
